I think I need to log on more frequently, this chatter has gotten out of hand. I was not suggesting that we bring in our own container although that is a novel concept. I have seen a number of sites offering bulk machines (wholesale) to dealers. I assume that these are clean and working machines, with warranty. My thoughts were more around the idea of getting 40-60 machines (our pick). Alternatively we could put together a buy list and then put it out to bid.

40 to 60 aren't generally for sale and certainly not at your pick. That's just one of the issues that would come up. We've all talked about this many times and the logictics of it are too difficult to manage. If you have people in the same general area it could be worked out, but as spread out as we are.. Too much trouble for our needs.

Tulsa is right on this for sure. With the way the dealers have a captive market, there is no way they will be interested in a 40-50 modern pachinko deal.
Even if they did give us a break, the shipping it out to different parts of the country after we got the initial delivery , would destroy any savings.
But as Tulsa said in his thread he started :
    http://www.pachitalk.com/forums/show...ghlight=export

Lets keep on looking for ways to save money on these. Who knows maybe a "newbie" will come along with new fresh ideas....

Fedex will do some dealing on air shipping to your door from Japan, $250ish for 50 pounds. It would be charged to a Fedex account here and they would like to see 5 to 10 machines shipped (on an average) monthly.

The other point is their handling is very poor compared to the ones I have gotten for spending a little more and getting it EMS (Japanese Air Mail 4 days to your door by U.S. Post Office).

If you waited till the prices dropped on your targeted machines, so you got them in the $50 to $70 range. And your agent there handled all packing for 10% of total bill. You could have a Star Wars or other big draw for around $350, months earlier than what now you are getting. And in very prime condition, the best I have seen on the ones I have gotten.

You don't have to have them in Cycle Usage only, you can get them in Pachinko Parlor ready too!

    Thoughts ?

You also got to remember if you bring in a machine directly you need to factor in the cost of cleaning these up + transformers and any damage will need to be addressed with the carrier.

Ive got a friend in Japan that has been doing a bit of scouting around for me on these things. For the most part the size of the Japanese home is not large so the domestic market is almost non existant. Thus they are only available through speciality retailers or in wholesale lots.

Yahoo Auctions Japan have alot of Pachinkos to bid on.
