Smile Vintage SANKYO laminate chip repair

This is a project with a large, ugly, missing laminate chip.

The $10 fix was to use wood filler from Home Depot and hobby paints with a foam brush from Hobby Lobby.

    I had the plastic scraper!

One coat of wood filler, block sand lightly with 220 then 400 grit.

Second coat of wood filler, block sand lightly with 220 then 400...

Mix paint and check color on test board, ended up 6 parts white - one part yellow for first coat of paint
applied with a small brush then rubbed with damp foam pad.

Second coat, same color, then few streaks of brown, all applied with small brush, then rubbed with damp foam pad.

Last coat will be clear finger nail polish but I don't have any now... need my bride to come home and show me where it is!

Here is a picture of the finished product - no close up of the fix!

It is noticeable but not as much of an eyesore as before. Hopefully, most observers will focus on the lights...

    Very nice Carl!
I have yet to find a machine with the Derby door. Those look very cool!
