    Default Led strips to cabinet

I added a couple of 12" blue/green flashing led strips to my cabinets. Got them at the auto supply store, they just stick on, and run on 12 volts.

May I ask what you paid for those? I know I have found some LED strip lights for cheap but most places have them priced rather high.

    Looks cool though.

I know what you mean. I want to add a plain small white LED strip to illuminate the reels on my 1963 Mills slot machine. But auto parts LED strips are $12 for two 12" strips. Not even sure I have space to mount where they will do any good. Can't backlight because the reels are steel with paper reel strips. Must be lit from front, and not sure I'll be happy with the results!

The strips I purchased, from AutoZone, were $24 for two 12" strips. The prices ranged from $9, for two 12" strips, to $79 for a whole kit of different sizes.

Just depended on what you want the led's to do. Some just lit up, some lit up and blinked, some just one color of led.

I went with the two color and blinked and flashed back and forth. It was more than I wanted to pay but that's what I wanted, you know how that goes.

Plus the ones I purchased were made for exterior use, it's like they are encased in a clear rubber. Thought it would be easier to clean, than exposed leds.

    Hmm... seems kinda pricey.

I have found this site which seems reasonable on the LED strip lights but they only have them in the white and at that length.

The strip is cuttable every 3 leds which they say is 1000mm or 39" : Not sure if I'm reading it right. Anyways I have been thinking about ordering from them seeing it is only $20 for 6ft!!

That appears to be led rope lighting. If rope lighting is what you want, it can be purchased at any home repair store. Most likely for the same price or cheaper. I used it in a poker table I built, with a lighted raised racetrack. It mounts using plastic U-shaped clips. Got mine at Lowes for $12 for a 6' roll. I had to use 2 rolls, they screw together to make any length you want.

The ones I purchased are about 5/8" wide and about 3/16 thick. They are flat on the back with 3M self stick tape. Pretty low profile.

I don't think it is rope lighting. Because it is about .5" wide and about .25" tall. So it is about the same size as nornmal stip lighting. Though I wouldn't know for sure unless I saw an actual picture of it instead of just the stock image.

There's a bunch of sellers of them out there. Only problem I have with it is every 3 LEDs light the same, so it takes a longer piece to really see the pattern.

If you get one, make sure the controller is set for the number of LEDs in the strip. Mine had like 20 but was set to 50, so the pattern would "go off the end" of the strip.

Here is a local homeware chain that sells them...they do shipping! I haven't tried them, but look like fun.
