Most people would have crumbled! You have risen to the top & I can't wait to see the finished results!
This is the putty that I got: Amazon.com: J-B Weld 8237 Kwik Plastic: Automotive. I did not have to use a filler material. I was thinking of putting the paint in the putty but I was not sure if it would interfere with the compound. I will be painting after sanding and shaping the work, feathering it into the tray on the edges. Right now I am waiting for my dremel to charge up so I can start shaping and polishing (carefully!).

Thank you for your vote of confidence. I feel pretty good about it so far. I will update as I go along.

I have cleaned my playfield up with some q-tips and light water on the tips, promptly dried after getting the gunk off. I have read that I can use the buffing attachment on my dremel on the brass nail heads. I will try with caution. It looks like some of the pins were ever so slightly bent to modify the payout possibilities, I could not see any other reason why they were that way since the playfield is in such nice condition.
