    Default Trash?

Found this when I was out walking the dogs on trash day. So I had to adopt her. Any help on restoring this baby is appreciated. Only thing wrong I can see, aside from the rusty chrome and dust, are the two wires sticking out in the back (see closeup pic). Anyone know where they go to?

    I should them

Sorry I can't answer your question. But I'm sure one of our many experts will answer soon. There isn't that much wiring on these older machines

George Washington? That seems kind of surreal. If it was made in 1975 and used in 1976 it was probably made to exploit the bicentennial.

That might be a keeper for that reason alone.

Think the two green wires are attached to the leaf spring for the jackpot switch. (blue). There should be two wires from the empty reward tray switch (red on my machine) and two wires from the jackpot switch (green on my machine). They go to a wirng / fuse block.

Here are some pictures of my machine, each machine can be different (wire colors).

I have a silver 9v battery holder and a heavy duty battery clip attached to the top two prongs of the brown wiring block. Nice machine BTW - anything American themed makes it seem more valuable to me, because I'm proud to be an American...

Man, am I jealous. In the trash?! I need to drive around on trash days. The face/wig looks like GW, but the pose is from the historic Napoleon Crossing the Alps portrait. I love Napoleonic stuff. Just check some of the stickys here, and you'll be on track soon enough.

Sorry about that. I started going into restore mode and decided to post this in the vintage section rather than keeping the "introduce yourself" post going.

two wires from the jackpot switch (green on my machine).
    I think that's what it's gotta be.

George Washington. I thought it was a pirate. Makes more sense now. I added another picture of the loose wire.

Is there any place to download service manuals for these guys?

A pachinko ball goes into one of the WIN pockets. A series of movements occurs in the pachinko machine. One of the movements is that the jackpot arm moves up (closing the jackpot leaf switch contacts) which then lights the jackpot light and releases the jackpot pachinko balls into the shooting tray. The pachinko balls hit a bell on the way to the tray. The pachinko ball that went into the WIN pocket is dropped into the lost ball area at the "paper clip". There is a thread that better describes the entire machine.

Mopar has a video of how a Model B machine works, it has the same basic machanics as your machine. Below is the link to the video.

Ok. Cleaned it up a bit, got some balls and seems like there are only 2 real problems. (please note, I am making up names for parts)
    1. The balls do not drop into the launching mechanism automatically. I have to flip the white doohickey (see picture) for the next ball to drop. Is there supposed to be something attached to the launch lever that flicks the white doohickey?
    2. The large jack pot see-saw kinda sticks. In the picture, you can see that the right side is lower than the left side. I believe the left side is supposed to drop down. I read somewhere not to use oil. Do I need to drill out the focal point hole so that it can move more freely?

I also include pictures of this machines apparent heavy use. The is a dent in the jackpot bell as well as the sliding thing that dumps balls from the ball holder to the jackpot bin.

see if this helps ya out.. there should be a stiff wire attached to the striker.. the wire swings your doohicky piece back and forthe to lift a ball at a time to the shooter..

    shooter back.jpgshooter back (1).jpgshooter back (3).jpg

your pivot points are probably gumed up.. no drilling required ya should be able to take them apart and clean the safts with scotch brite pads or emory cloth..(or something like that.. steel wool)..

in you last pic there appers to be some kind of burn or melted plastic at the end of the shooter tray... if your is working then no worries but to fix it ya could try some 5 min epoxy.. build it up a bit ans sand ir smooth to get its shape back flat..

Don't drill!!! Cleaning should do well. I'm not familiar with the "white doohickey" on your machine, but something trips it each tine the flipper is moved. I'll look closer but I don't have the same machine to send a picture. Good luck and to Pachitalk!

I do believe I'm missing the wire. I'll make a replacement.

I cleaned the pivot point up pretty good with steel wool. The seesaw has a metal half and plastic half. I think the problem may be that the plastic is shrinking or just worn out and the metal part of the is coming thru the plastic. That is making the hole "not round" anymore. I attached a photo. It's kinda hard to make out.

The shooter tray seems to be feeding ok, so I'm not going to mess with it.

post 14 picture #3 shows a bell that is perty dented up from balls falling against it.. so if your having issues with parts being worn out its not a shock..

if you could find a sleevefor your plastic that would be great.. drill out the plastic and slide a sleeve in... or fill it and redrill it but thats allot of work.. and if ya get it wrong it will not work right..

posably a member has a comet machine there parting out???

My vintage Sankyo (not my Sanyo but built almost exactly the same way) had issues with the pivot points in the jackpot. I used yarn and plastic polish to smooth out the inside of the plastic parts and made sure the metal parts were perfectly clean. I did need to work one pivot over with a needle file to remove a burr but still far less frightening than drilling.

I bit the bullet and tried the drill. Literally 2 seconds and I was done. Works great now.
Now onto the front window. It has a plexiglass window that is cracked that needs to be replaced. Did these originally have glass, or is plexi the way to go?
Also, I noticed some damage to the ball tray (see pic). Is this repairable with epoxy or should/can I replace it?
