Default 6v lights on my "A"

Well, the time came to put some lights on my model A.

This machine was pretty rough, with regards to wiring, as most of it was cut out. One of the leaf switches also had a wire pulled out of it, so I started with the idea that I would replace both leaf switches with microswitches, but that didn't work out.

I did end up replacing the leaf switch that controlled that ball empty light with a radioshack microswitch, however, I had to position it differently. One of the things I learned during this was that the leaf switches require very little force to close and open the circuit as in comparison to a regular microswitch, which was the primary reason I reused the leaf switch for the jackpot.

Overall, this was one of my cleanest wiring jobs. I ended up going with 6v vs 9v pretty much because they didn't have any 9v lights at my local radioshack. The good news is that the wiring/bulb sockets are all the same.

All in all, this machine is coming along nicely. This is my only model A, and I really like this style of machine.

You are doing a great job! I really like the recycler tray aspect of the A model. FYI I use 7.5 volt bulbs with my 9 volt battery and it works great, nice and bright.

Huge thanks, I am short a few bulbs on one of my other machines, and I wasn't sure how I was going to replace them if I couldn't find some 9Vs.

the lower volt bulbs are nice and bright... tahts what i use as well... they will burn out faster but i like the brightness of them... since they only blink lifespan is not a huge worry..

if ya get in a pinch again they make micro switches with longer arms on them.. less force is needed with a longer arm.. its like trying to see saw with the Fat kid... never worked very well...
