Default Yamasa - Acid Rot problems?

I read online elsewhere that the Yamasa line of pachislo has a problem with acid rot on the circuit boards

Has anyone here experienced any of that with Yamasa machines? That would really bite. I have Kung Fu Lady II, and was looking to add Wild Wolf, both of which are Yamasa.

Glad my Gold God and Don Don King are other models!

    Thanks.

I think as long as you keep it out of the acid rain you'll be fine!

I heard that a long time ago, but my oldest machine is a Yamasa and I've had no issues.

I've only seen this mentioned once - on the PachisloUSA forum. I think they were commenting on something they saw on a very small sample of machines. Any manufacturer can get a bad batch of boards from a sloppy subcontractor. I wouldn't worry about it unless it starts showing up on a much larger sample of Yamasa machines.

Anyone here have a Yamasa fail?

I suspect a bigger problem with machines is exposure to salt spray during while their in a sea freight container.

You are right, that is where I read it. Looking at it again it was back in 2003. Hopefully it was an isolated incident.

    Thanks!

Worst case scenario, you cna usually get another board in place of a bad one. Alot of machines use the same ones.

When they make the circuit boards they use acid to etch them. This should be washed off with a neutralizer. If it wasn't washed properly some of the acid remains and continues to etch the conductive surface.

I still see this a lot. I haven't seen a machine fail because of it yet, but it is only a matter of time... Also see it on some takasago machines..

I will post a picture to this thread in a day or so, so that you can see what it looks like.

With my luck, Wild Wolf and Kung Fu Lady II will die on me promptly because of it.
