    Default Pachislo On and Off

Is it all right to turn your machine on and off with a power strip? It does make a little pop when you do that.

Yes, it is fine. most of the people here do it that way. it saves on the power supply switch & any of the machines that have a transformer in them. It protects them from over heating & causing trouble. Remember if you turn it off at the power supply & it has a transformer, the transformer is still working & getting very hot.

isn't it better to turn it off at the machine switch, and then the transformer?

I think of the machines as little computers inside, and it seems like you abruptly turn it off by killing the power strip. there's no hard drive to crash, but it seems like maybe it would be hard on the electronics? am I being paranoid?

also, my giant transformer, capable of 5 pachi's, sometimes sparks when I turn it off - shows how much current is being drawn into the transformer, even when the machines are off!

I've used the power strips on all my machines for years to turn them on and off with no problems

from what I have seen poking around inside the machines it cuts power to the boards the same way turning it off with the power strip or at the switch. The onboard switch just interrupts the circuit where the power comes in. the only reason I can think of to use the onboard switch first is to save the transformer from stress

if you machine is a 100v model (transformer in the power supply) the power supply switch turns the power off before the transformers.
if you have a 24v model then the power supply switch turns off the unit but does not affect the transformer since it is wired outside of the power supply. in this case the transformer is still working & will continue to get hot.
This is one of the main reasons for the use of the power strip is to turn off the transformer.

Some day I'm simply going to walk into the games room and clap my hands ... and see my games light up.

Then my wife is going to give me a peck on the cheek while handing me a beer, and tell me that there is room for one or two more games!

... now, That is wishful thinking!

I'm sure some kind of bunny suit is involved also (her, not you, unless you swing that way )? Then you light up!
