Default 9 Drums in the house

Fedex dropped off my 9 Drums Gladiator right before I left for work yesterday. Literally.

I knew it was going to be bad when I walked up to the truck and could here the balls bouncing around in the box over the truck engine. The driver asked if it was a box of ball bearings. Out of 1800 balls, 1200 of them were loose. Some were imbedded 2" into the foam used to protect the top and bottom. My daughter was a saint for digging them all out.

The machine had spheres and foam dust stuck everywhere. Fortunately, it sustained no damage.

I'm blaming this one on New In Town. He told me that it had p-vibe. So naturally I had to buy it. (Thanks, buddy! )

That's my story and I'm sticking to it!

    Congrats on the new Pachi!!

Glad to hear that it stayed in one piece, especially with all those sphericals wild and loose in there...

Glad to hear it made it and only "Shaken" not "SMASHED"

Does Daves Dongle work on it? I still have to "UN" mod my machine to make it work.

Remember what I said about the P-Vibe, the first time you hit a FEVER round.

No love for the dongle. It will add credits, and dispense balls, but it won't shoot.

Did it have a "Standard" Dongle on it when you got it?

If not and it is working without one your machine has been Modified also.

Wow, imbedded 2 inches! Glad to hear the machine came out in unhurt. Congratulations on your new pachi.

For anyone in the Houston area there's one on Craigslist.

It came without a dongle. I tried a standard one just to see what would happen, and it disabled the shooter.

After you de-modify yours, we'll do mine.

From daverob posted in another Thread. :

The dongle should work with an unmodified machine with no problems at all. The only complication is if the machine has been modified so that it doesn't need to have anything plugged into the dongle socket to enable the shooter handle.

It should be easy to check for this before committing to buy a dongle, just look on the back for a D-25 socket (same style as an old PC printer port) and see if anything is plugged in there. If the socket is empty then the machine has been modified, and the modification may have to be removed before the dongle will operate properly. This is usually just a matter of removing the circuit board and looking for a solder blob on the back that connects two pins together, this blob can then be unsoldered or snipped off and the machine should be back to 'unmodified' status.

So much for Sleep. Thanks Ikaria

In work on it now. Found the "Blob" will explain repair later and post Pic's.

Now that the "blob" has been removed, I'm thinking about soldering in a micro switch so that I can have the option of not using a dongle.

You should be able to add a solder blob on a different part of the board which will make the machine not need a dongle, and it will still work correctly when an external dongle is plugged in.

I was looking at the pictures on the other post to see if I could work out where the solder blob would need to be, but they're not quite clear enough to see exactly where to make the connection. I'm suspecting it will be two of the pins of PC2, but it would be a risky thing to try without being able to check a few things first.

If you've got a multimeter and are happy powering up the machine with the plastic case off this board and checking for some voltages, I can let you know how to find out the right place to add a solder blob.

Alternatively if someone could send me clear high res pictures of both sides of the board and the card reader interface board, this should help me be able to work out where the solder blob needs to go. PM me for an email address to send the photos, as the forum software doesn't allow large pictures.
