my grandfather was a carpenter all his life, he csme here from Germany all by himself at the age of 16, he worked on the world's fair in 1892 and 93 in Chicago.

he built his own home and garage and had many hand made tools. he was a master at building rowboats from scratch, he made many for the people living in his area, hand carving the bow and both stern corners. his boats always rowed easy and true.

when he passed away one of my uncles got all his better tools and stuff--my parents bought his home out in the country from the estate.

we used it as a summer cottage and eventually had a 3 room addition added and moved there year round.

after my father passed away, dummy me decided that all this "junk" in the garage needed to go to make way for my boat and stuff.

i had a pile of stuff outside about 6 feet high and called a trash guy to haul it away he said $20.00 and as we were going to pay him, he handed us $20.00.

as I've grown older I have always regretted that day, many hand make smaller tools, about 5 old wood planes, kerosene kitchen stoves, handmade tool box, you get the picture

all i kept was a small hand make drill box with some drill bits and awls.

unfortunately his carpentrey skills didn't pass down to me

That ain't nothin! I got so many tools, I have to keep them at a couple of extra locations. One's called 'Sears' and the other's called 'Harbor Freight'. Gotta pay the place for 'storage' every time I have to go collect one, but I don't have to take it back.

Our Wood Shop teacher at the High School has that same poster on the wall in the classroom.

I think I'll stay, since they pay me to be there.
I'm more worried about my daughter graduating on time this year.
