Default Netflix instantly to your TV

    Netflix
    instantly to
    your TV.

We have touched on this briefly in another post. Tonight after finishing a year long major home renovation, I started to reconnect some of my electronics. (More threads to fellow)

One of the things that was reconnected was my Xbox 360. This is one of several devices when hooked to the INTERNET allow you to gain access to your Netflix account. The others being the 'The Netflix Player by Roku', the 'LG BD300 Network Blu-ray Player' and the Samsung Blu-ray Player BD-P2500/BD-P2550.

I have already watched a couple movies and am very pleased with the quality of the picture being streamed. This is truly the future of video. Netflix is currently offering over 12000 titles (so they say) through "Watch Instantly". As long as you have added the movie to your "Watch Instantly" queue. You can pull it up on your Device to watch on your TV.

The fellow is from the Netflix FAQ:

    What does this cost?

If you are on a Netflix unlimited plan (from $8.99 a month) you can watch instantly for no additional fee.
The price of each Netflix ready device varies and is set by the manufacturer. It's a one-time purchase. Once you buy the device, it's yours to keep.

    How will my plan change?

Your plan doesn't change. The monthly price stays the same and you get the same number of DVDs as before. Watching movies & TV episodes on your TV via a Netflix ready device is included in unlimited plans (from $8.99 a month) at no additional cost.

    Will I still get DVDs?

Yes. You still get DVDs by mail plus you can watch instantly as often as you want. Watching instantly doesn't affect the number of DVDs you get.

I have seen the future and it is good.

(The Samsung seems like a winner so far as Blu-ray is considered. This could be a good Christmas present.)

I've not tried it yet myself but there's just something about having a product in your hand that's appealing to me and I'm sure they're not streaming 1080P, at least yet or are they?

I haven't signed up yet for Netflix, but can you get 1080i? How is the dowload/delay time on the 360?

Download time is about 10 secs. The picture appears to be better than 480, but they only claim near DVD quality. They still send me DVD's in any format I wish, DVD - HDDVD - Blu-ray.

This is only a bonus to their subscription. To be able to pick from 12000 moves instantly is a nice thing. As I type this, I am watching "The Day the Earth Stood Still".

I have been looking for a Universal Remote. Maybe you and Tulsa could do a thread with a review on this one for us.

I currently have a Roku SoundBridge media device that allows me to play internet radio over my stereo system. It works great and sounds great and has been very robust. I have this in my 'spa room' where my hot tub is so the humidity is rather high and even after the remote took a turn in the hot tub, it all still works great. The reason I bring this up is that Roku also has a media player that can play all types of media to your home stereo and TV. This includes Netflix, YouTube, etc. I don't have an XBox (I have PS2) so I am considering the Roku just because I've been happy with the SoundBridge.

Just another option... and another remote!

Well, it is with great excitement that I have found a large collection of "Dr Who" in the 'Instant Watch' section. And I am currently watching them

I know this is an old thread, but I was wondering how members enjoy Netflix on demand.

its available on xbox360 with gold membership and ps3 with using an ondemand dvd disk which they mail you. there will be a softwear upgrade in late fall to eliminate the disk.

are you locked in or can you cancel anytime???

they say the HD movies are 720P

I may try it on my ps3 slim

I use it on the Wii..I like it..it works better than Comcast on demand!!

I don't have an HDTV so can't comment on HD stuff..(plus the Wii Netflix doesn't do HD)..but the picture quality I get seems to be as good as anything else (cable/dvd) to me..

You are limited to the few thousand streaming titles, but you still get your discs in the mail too so you can get everything else that way..And watchiag streaming movies doesn't count against the number of discs you get per month..

Since it doesn't cost any more for the Wii Its worth a try if you have Netflix already..

I know this is an old thread,

they are incresing their rates with delivered dvd's, but streaming will still be $8.99 a month.

do members using it still feel this is still worth it??

I hear tv shows also are available, are these older series??

I might try their free trial offer on my PS3
