Default My Indy is odd...twice now.

    Hi All,

Twice now while playing my Indy Pachinko, The win lite will start to blink, along with the little LED dot on the ball tray and no winnings will be dispenced. Last time it did this, a simple reset solved the problem. This time, I decided to get up and check the forum for any such event. I have never seen or heard of this happening.
While searching the forum (about 2 - 3 minutes) the machine dispensed my winning balls, and works fine. There wasn't any stuck motor, loose connection, or any error that I could find.

Does anyone know what would cause this?

P.S. it just happened again, and it was 3 minutes, then the winning balls dispensed and I can now play.

I highly doubt this has anything to do with anything...

could it be some sort of surge? causing temporary problems?

500 balls through (using DaveRob Dongle to help count) and it did it again. after three minutes, I will open the case and see if something is overheating...OOps..There it is. Just paid out.

UPDATE...Got a chance to open the door and check the error code this time (the other two times, the hopper was full and I couldn't open the door.)

I get an Error code 4

I will research this on the site.

OK, this is what I found

    0 Normal
1 Insufficient Prize Ball Payout (Check Payout Hopper Prize Ball Rail)
2 Insufficient Loan Ball Payout (Check Payout Hopper Loan Ball Rail)
3 Lower Tray Full (Empty Balls From Lower Tray)
4 No Prize Balls (Check For Ball Jams In Prize Ball Rail)
5 No Loan Balls (Check For Ball Jams In Loan Ball Rail)
6 Excess Payment Of Prize Balls (Perform RAM memory clear.)
7 Excess Payment Of Loan Balls (Perform RAM memory clear.)
8 Card Unit Communication Error (Check Card Unit Connections)
9 Communication Error (Check Main Control Board Connections)
. Card Unit Not Connected (Connect Card Unit)

I get an error code 4. after it clears by itself, i get an error code 7

Is it possible (and this is really a question for Daverob), that when I request 25 balls from the machine "While" it is also trying to pay out a win, the machine thinks it dispenced too many balls? OR, Could it be this..

When I dispence 25 balls by request in my Star Wars, LOTR, Or Gamera, I get twenty five balls all at once. When I do this in my Indy, it gives me 9 balls, then waits about a second and a half, then dispenses the rest of the balls. Totalling 25. Could this be a sensor issue?

I will clean the motor assembly and the area around it.

Motor assembly cleaned, and it pays off 25 balls at once...no hesitation. I shall see if that did the trick ...Although the motor wasn't that dirty.

one simple word "MAINTENANCE" stops all sorts of pesky problems .

Like the people who don't know how to open the hood (bonnet) to make sure the engine is ok and fluids are right and assy belts are properly tension .

And getting a Hayes manual is the gest investment to know your vehicle and maybe save some $$$$

Glad it all seems to be fixed

BTW Those error codes you've got listed are from a different machine, so are not applicable to Indy or other Sankyo Lumina frame machines.

For reference, an error code of 7 will be shown if there are no balls reaching the hopper empty switch (or if there is a fault with the signal from the hopper empty switch).

An error code of 4 will be shown if there is a discrepancy between what the CPU thinks it should have paid out (based on how many revolutions it has instructed the payout motor to turn) and the amount of balls that have been counted as they pass the exit sensor of the payout motor. In these situations the CPU will fire up the payout motor for a second time until the correct number of balls have been paid out. This error code will usually remain until it is manually reset (using the main reset button, or the separate reset button on the payout control board), or it will clear by itself if the machine has been behaving itself for long enough for it to have considered the error a temporary occurrence. This is often due to by a blockage in one of the two ball paths between the hopper empty switch and the payout motor, but can also be because of dirt in the payout control motor causing a 'partial jam' which causes the motor to turn more slowly than normal (thus paying out less balls than expected).

Most of the time these problems can be solved by a simple cleaning of the ball paths between the hopper and the exit of the payout unit.

On machines equipped with a Card Reader Emulator dongle, both of these situations are likely to cause the 'Ball Loan Available' LED on the upper tray to flash. With error code 7 it will flash three times to indicate that there are no balls available to payout. With error code 4 if the payout has not been completed within a few seconds of pressing the Ball Loan button, the LED will remain flashing until the payout is complete.

BTW these error codes and their causes are only applicable to Sankyo Lumina frame machines. Some other makes of machines will usually pay out large numbers of balls by firing up the payout motor twice and making for two smaller payouts. So remember that this sort of behaviour does not always indicate a fault with the machine

    Thanks DaveRob,
I didn't know that different manufacturers had different codes. I assumed that all that all the codes were standard. That helps. The most dirt in the machine was around and on the metal pass through of the motor. Once I cleaned that it worked great.
