I'm not sure you folks would like the newer version of petz coming anyway. As a lifetime owner of that script if they fixed some of the issues it might be worth a new look. So I popped over to the site to check on the progress. This was posted last April, as of October the guy said he's not very good at timelineing his projects.. No kidding..

Anyway, this was what he had to say...

Removals:
Two core areas have been removed:
Gambling has been removed because there is no way to prevent cheating without completely limiting it to a point where it's going to actually be very difficult to find a valid battle to gamble upon. I am not too worried about loss of functionality because the new tournament system and a reintroduction of battle wagers (gold betted by the pet owner) should provide a safer way to provide gambling without anyone quickly exploiting the system to get rich quick. Also if you use Gold! or a points system with a transfer ability then a forum bookmaker could always take charge of organising betting.

The orphanage also got left out of the next version. Simply because the Auction actually accomplishes everything the orphanage did. Plus the auction has the added features of being an auction system.

The "GOLD" he references is another script he's selling that give petz it's own "money". It can still use the point system we use he's suggesting using it's own money to keep the inherent cheating within petz itself.
