I told my kids if I was going to buy their first car it was going to be a Rambler.
If they mess around too much with it the car would overheat and you have to wait till it cools off or walk. Not home by 10 because the car overheated, no car for a month. That would keep them out of trouble and showing off. That was what friends of my parents would do. My dad made me thumb to work till I got enough for a car.
