I usually park inside, at home and work. But had to scrape off the car when I parked on the street outside of our offices Monday.

the snow scraper is home. it needs to back in the for the winter I guess.

One winter in Chicago, my buddy couldn't get his key in his door lock, he got a pot and poured hot water all over the door and the key didn't fit

after about 3 pots of hot water he found out his car was 3 spots over

My dad used to poor hot water on his windshield to defrost it in the morning, one day it shattered.

I tried two different times in my life to live in Denver. I remember the hot water trick on the windshield and yes I cracked it also... and also the scraping and starting the car with the defroster/heater going and then coming back 15 minutes later with the thermos in hand and still having to scrape more. But I do miss those White Christmas days.

Remote start from inside. Eat breakfast and have some coffee. Car is warm and toasty and thawed when we leave.

I have "special cars" taking up the garages and our daily drivers do stay outside. But, it's really never a big deal. Been doing it this way for 16 years since we moved back to Iowa.

My '66 is in a round topper tarp garage. the boat goes in a similar 'portable' storage tarp shed for the winter. These sheds are temporary until the barn is built. The round topper's are about $290 @ Menards cheap but lasts for years.
