Default Fever Queen/Lessons Learned: The Peanuts & The Dongle

Fever Queen - some important newbie lessons.

    1. STYROFOAM PEANUTS: We found 5 of them blocking the path at various points leading from the reward tray. Once we removed them, the machine played fine. Before we removed them, no balls fed from the reward tray during fever rounds. The thing is, they (the peanuts) weren't readily visible; they must have gotten jammed up inside during shipping. (NOTE: This machine was shipped with a bunch of loose styrofoam peanuts.) I used a long needle-nosed pliers to get some, and I ended up using a long unbent paper clip to nab the final piece. It felt like surgery, but once that last piece was out it was a relief because then the machine played the way it was supposed to.

    2. DONGLE. NOW I understand what that thing was that looked like a hookup to an old printer. The Dongle; without which, the machine obviously wouldn't play. Since they were attached on the other two machines, and since there wasn't any mention of it in the manual/play guide that came with it, at first I just left it sitting on the side. Then when the balls wouldn't launch, I decided to install it and then everything worked fine, except the reward tray, since we hadn't discovered the styrofoam peanuts yet. Now we know about the dongle & the peanuts.

Decent machine; useful volume control (no need for Syscoms on this machine); 2 modes that are switchable by a small button on the front left of the machine; 2 panes of round glass came on the machine out of the box, so no need to add any more glass or plexi; a tease machine - lots of "almost wins" from the reaches; right and left playfield pretty equal in terms of balls entering the start hole; no "wings" that open up at the start hole like on the two other machines; streaky fever rounds - nothing for hours then 4 in a row.

So far, Rose of Versailles is our favorite, then Fever Queen, then E.T. Tuesday Mozart Wonderland/Saint Maria arrives, and I have a feeling it'll top the charts. It looks like that one and R.o.V. will be keepers, and we'll sell Fever Queen & E.T.

One can see how that might easily happen if it is packed with loose styro peanuts.

Arby had a ton of pink peanuts in my Bunny Girl box, but he had the machine and his famous Jack Danial's cake wrapped in shrinkwrap.

in an emergency you can always unplug the speakers, after all volume is in the ears of the beholder. just don't consider it a perminent solution as it will eventually burn up the amp.

    Sounds good enough to eat.
slotusa uses the peanuts in bags the size of bread wrappers, no loose ones. My last vintage (the 7.50 special) came in a bag with loose peanuts around it, and beadboad over the glass. only a few stray ones were found inside. the pre bagged ones are neater to unpack no peanuts all over. I prefered the styrofoam corners and foam board over front glass, smallest box I recieved with a pachinko intact inside.
