    Default eBay question: non-paying bidders

Well, after being on eBay for a good six years, it looks like I'll be having my first non-paying bidder. I haven't had any replies from the buyer and he/she got negative feedback from another seller for the same reason just yesterday.

I've figured out how to report the person and all but are there any ramifications for doing so, do I get eBay fees back, or is it just a file and forget and relist my items thing?

    Thanks.

if you file a complaint you have to wait for an outcome (aprox 20 days) and then they usualy give you your fees back or knock them off your bill
My rice krispies told me to do it

You will get your fees back once you file the non-paying bidders form. They are very good about that.

    Thanks.

Is it safe to just go ahead and relist the items or should I wait until eBay clears everything up?

I would wait for E-Bay. I had a non paying bidder a couple of weeks ago and after E-Bay sent the non paying bidder warning I got paid.
    Good Luck.

Yeah, sometimes the warning is enough to give them a good kick in the rear. You can also "gently" remind them that it's a three strikes and your username is deleted, policy for non-paying bidder complaints. Of course it depends on their rating...some will just dump it, wait a while and come back with a different username.

Actually now if they do not respond in the complaint NPB complaint they arent able to leave negative feedback, one of the best things ebay has done.

I agree, dont leave a neg, or you will get one in return.
One thing for the future though, I always add in some text to the effect of "if you have below 10 feedbacks, contact me before bidding, your bid will be removed", it helps weed out the newbie/scammers, and gives you the opportunity to get rid of some questionable bidders.

Now ebay says that if you dont respond to the NonpayingBidder thingy, and that person leaves feedback for you it gets removed by ebay.

    Nice!
I jusy wish they would overhaul the feedback system, to often I buy something, and the seller won't leave feedback until you leave them positive.
Only rarely do I get feedback after I pay, and before I leave feedback.

I believe that if you file for a non-paying bidder credit you only get the final value fee back, not the listing fees. I usually get about 1 or 2 per month that end up not paying. After a warning they usually end up paying, but sometimes they just see how long they can drag you along. It depends upon my mood as to weather or not I leave negative feedback, most of them that get it will retaliate and leave it for me. All the negatives I've received were retalitory.

I have 2 Ebay accounts with almost 4,000 positive and 8 negatives total.

all my negatives were not my fault, but they still count.

I've also found that I get more problem buyers right after Christmas. Every year I have at least 5-10 that don't understand the concept of "Your are the winning bidder Please send me my money"

Some of the responses I've gotten

I got one for christmas, I just wanted to see what it was worth
    I changed my mind
What do you mean I have to pay shipping
I know I bid $300 but the price guide says it's only worth $50, can I get it for that?
And my personal favorite - My little brother hacked my account he has no money and I don't want it

    you forgot

"I won another one cheaper, so I don't want yours"

or buyers remorse, after they get it they say they don't want it and want their money back or a partial refund to keep it.
