I believe the clear and brown part are removed as an assembly, then you can access screws to separate them. Not certain...been a long time since I took a Model B apart.

Success!! Now I'm going to start cleaning the ramps and the joints...I'll go and have a little read of that sticky for that and see what questions arise. Just wanted to ask about the staples?

ive removed a lot and some have snapped being so old, rusted and worn...in place of these I notice very tiny holes. Can I just use wood screws as a replacement to these? I'll try and get the staples back where they came from as they seemed to proved a really good solid connection/hold to the wood but wanted to ask the screw question.
