1950s Nishijin "Kabuki" jackpot video
My most recent arrival is this 1950s Nishijin pachinko, which is in pretty rough shape. However, other than a missing piece which I will need to have made by a metalsmith (I have one on my other 50s Nishijin I can use as a model), it is fully functional. It's a major rustbucket and the cabinet has some damage, but I think I can restore it to much of it's former glory. That, of course, will take most of a year at the rate I work.
This is probably one of the earliest pachinkos to have lights and a mechanical figure in the center. After soldering a broken wire and cleaning all the contacts—plus bending some of the rods for the jackpot levers—I was able to take a video of a couple of jackpots. They happen quickly, but I don't have the time right now to figure out how to slow them down.
There is a white kabuki mask behind the orange doors in the center circle. The balls are held in the circle around the center and are released when a ball goes in a pocket. That also turns on a light behind the mask and it pops forward as the doors open. Then it pops backward as the doors close. Pretty cool.
