    Default Totally Clueless

Hi forum members. I have an admission. I am a collector of stuff. I cant help it. (Dont want to). Yesterday at an antique shop in Maine, I saw 2 Pachinko machines. I think they are modern. One was in "sort of working condition" lights up makes noises ball shooter works. Other not working. The one that sort of works (balls do not actually drop into play) is a Hyoraku, Lucky Cat, at least superficially in good shape. (these things are a lot heavier than they look arent they,) Ill be trying to figure it out in the days to come. Has anyone experience with this particular game/machine? are there manuals? Im sure there are other questions I dont even know to ask. Anyway, just wanted to say Hi to my new family. Thanks, Johnny Yuma

    Hello,

I'm presuming one of them is made by Kyoraku, but I can't find any info regarding 'Lucky Cat',

If possible, could you please post pics of that and the other one too, then the members will most likely be able to identify them both and offer more specific advice regarding game play and trouble shooting, etc etc

    Welcome to PachiTalk!!

Wow! What a great response to a first post! Thanks to all. I had to drive back from deepest Maine to home in Mass. I'll get photos of both machines up as soon as I can figure out the idiosyncracies of the site photo downloading. For a fairly clever man Im remarkably inept with this. Thanks again, Johnny

That Lucky Cat is a Kyoraku, not Hyoraku.

Yes Indeed, I did buy them. The Kyoraku Lucky Cat seems visually in fine shape. came with a tub of the balls (maybe a thousand). The shop person gave me the second machine for free if I purchased the first for 90.00. Again, being totally clueless about these (and impulsive) I bought it. The other machine has "Pro-Wrestling" on the front, and seems to be, either older and simpler in back or missing some components. The Lucky Cat has been wired to a plug. When I plug it in the counter lights up, The lights on side top light, The center lights cycle (pretty). The Shooter mechanism (not sure of official nomenclature) works (goes bang bang...) When I press the release button(?) in the center of the shooter mechanism (?) wheel i hear another click. This is the point at which I think a ball is supposed to drop onto the shooter and into play. There are a lot of balls in the machine. I have tried (gently) flipping things on the back that may or may not be related to ball movement/release to no avail. I am wise enough (barely) to not just start taking things apart, hence my search for enlightenment. I am very clever mechanically and very good at taking things apart (rather less so with electronic stuff). I think the problem is either/or the balls are jammed (best case) or the thingy (Solenoid? switch?) that releases the ball isnt working. I solicit you kind thoughts. (and many thanks to takethecastle 57 for the link to the Johnny Yuma site on You Tube. (Love the song, interested in the Civil War, think cowboys are cool, seemed like a good name for a fat 52 year old from Massachusetts to go with. Thanks, Johnny

The second pachinko is what we would call a Vintage Pachinko and you will find a lot of useful information, in the 'sticky threads' at the top of the Vintage Forum, there are Videos of various models as well as advice on cleaning, restoring, etc etc

Regarding the more modern one, I'm just wondering if you have forgotten to put a handful of pachinko balls into the shooter tray at the front?? or perhaps there is something blocking that tray where the balls feed to the shooter??

Also, as you are new to pachinko, you may find the info on Modern Day pachinko operation useful, that is located in our Research Centre (4th button from right along the top of the page) but here's a quick link just in case Research Centre

Ah Hanabi, Your question is a very good one. In my innocence what I did was to put a bunch of balls in the top hopper in the back of the machine. I thought the balls start on top. Are you saying that they start in the front bottom hopper? Johnny

Yes you need to put the majority of the Pachinko Balls into the top hopper at the back of your pachinko, these will be the balls that you will receive in payouts

You also need to put some pachinko balls into the front top shooter tray too, these are the balls that you will fire with

Hope this helps solve the shooter problem

OK. Filling the bottom hopper did indeed help.(Hanabi is now officially my hero). The release button in the center of the shooter wheel does not work. If I flip it manually at rear a number of balls load and will now shoot. The digital counter which is lit has not registered a score. some balls come out as payoff. The speaker does not seem to work, and there is a loose black wire which when touched makes static on the speaker. When triggered manually a light goes on at front. I guess the major problem is the load function not working.
Also, Hanabi asked about the other machine, which she thought is Vintage. This is clearly older and more warn. It is a Nishijin <<kanless>> (coin-less?), Super D.X. has pichure of 2 cartoon wrestlers in center with words 'Pro-Wrestling' Thanks for any feedback, Johnny

I'm not sure if you've had time to check out the basic Modern day pachinko operation guide yet?? but here's the quick link PachiTalk Research Center - FAQ - Pachinko - Pachinko - Modern Day Operation - PachiTalk it might help explain things a little better than I can, but i'll try...

The balls to be fired need to be in the TOP shooter tray,

The shooter knob has a grounding ring around it, a metal band and there is a button on there, you only need to make contact with the metal band and turn the shooter knob to the right to rapid fire (pressing the button will only pause the shooter and releasing it will only fire a ball at a time) most players play using the rapid fire method and some shooter knobs / grounding rings are more sensitive than others, so do make sure your hand is making a good contact around it

regarding your Nishijin Super DX, you will find a lot of information in the Vintage Pachinko forums ( search there will turn up other Nishijins that our members own),

It may be best for you to start another thread in there regarding that one (quick link to Vintage section)
