Yes it is. When so many people come together to help, you take on responsibility not to let them down.

Then again, they gave it to them, with no stipulations. If the business they tried worked, no problem. Let the one of the volunteers buy it cheap.

And another thing, considering how they lived before, it was obvious they weren't great money handlers to begin with. So you build them a $150,000-200,000 house, not a $450,000. It's like taking starving people to a buffet and telling them to make it last!

This makes me very angry they get a gift of once in 5 generations of getting a healthy and beautiful home and $250,000 for home and upkeep donated by the people who busted there humps to get a grand home built in 7 days and they got a trip of a lifetime that alot of use could NEVER afford and then what do these people do?


Lets get a loan on our home to try a new business ($450,000) . Now they are back in debt and are Definately going to LOOSE the home .

I have 0 simpathy with this family and may they suffer for a very loooooong time for their STUPIDITY.

Knowing this country I bet they had to pay taxes on other peoples charity at about 40% and had to get a mortgage to pay the tax man. I'm sure the IRS wants to treat it as income. It could be as much as $200000 and more if they couldn't deduct the value of the house they knocked down (started with).

There is a nice little loop hole in the law they use when fixing these houses up. They rent the home from the recipient. And as such, the renter is allowed to do all the renovations they want ... all tax free.
