Yesterday at work....
I work at a goverment facility and they are getting ready to tear down some of the buildings so LAPD SWAT gets to use one of the old building to pratice in/on. We are moving some of the last items out from one end of the building and this battering ram rolls up at the other end. I guess they want to try it out and see how it works. About 20 cops hop out of this Armored truck (like Brinks) with a 2 foot steel square mouted on a 10 foot pole on the front of the truck. He gets about 20 feet away from the building and takes a run at it, hits the building, the truck bounces the pole bends and all they did was scratch the paint.
Seems someone forgot to tell them they were trying to batter into the Armory, Made out of Cinderblocks, double reinfoced with 2 pieces of re-bar in every hole and one on every horizontal course then filled with cement.
They made a few other attempts for the next 30 minutes and then gave up.
As I drove out I saw the LA fire Dept Big Rig Tow truck getting ready to hook them up so they must have broke something else besides the battering ram...
MORAL of the story: Make sure you know what you are trying to destroy with your brand new LAPD battering ram or else you might have to expain it to the chief......
