Smile Nishijin shiroi-kamome center piece Monkey-Allegator

Hi , I am new to this Pachitalk site, but not new to vintage Pachinko. I just got a new Nishijin machine, but the center is not working. Doe's anyone know how to fix this piece. It has a reel on the top and bottom with two pivits that work the jaws of the allegator. the monkey moves down on its trac but I am not sure how it goes back up. Some help on this would be much apprecated. I have inclosed pics. pic #1 is front.#2 is back with the Jaws closed. 3 is a close up, notice the string which I put in to see how the monkey worked. the last pic shows the stud where the reel goes, I need an e-clip that fits. Are parts missing? thanks for all your help and tech. info. Fr3d.IMGP0555.jpgIMGP0556.jpgIMGP0558.jpgIMGP0559.jpg

    to Pachitalk!

It looks like you might be able to fix it easily. (see pic below) The string should be tied to a loop or something where the red arrow is pointing. And there should be a weight under the portion the green arrow is pointing at.

Though finding that little E clip is going to be hard. I forget the size of the shaft but I think it is like 2 -3 mm.(You better remeasure) So you will have to order it online and will most likely have to buy like 100 of them. I will see I could use some metric E clips so I might place an order for some (somewhere).

If you have any further questions just ask. And once again welcome to PT.

    Your Welcome.

The weight should already be there unless someone replaced the string and threw out the weight. I'm not sure exactly how much it weighs but I know it is just a brass rod. But the key is the weight or else it won't work right.

Thanks all for the welcome, to answer a few questions, yes the weight is missing. I'll try a few things to see how it may work. and I live in Tigard Oregon to answer that one. I only have three machines one is the Nishijin and two are Sanyo COMeT 2's, I still need to go thru one and clean it up.I would like some input on how to rewire the lights to get them to work on all machines. I am not good at electronics but can follow simple instructions.

    Welcome to the Pachi Club!!

I reconditioned a Monkey & Alligator machine a couple of summers ago and remember that to get the monkey to work properly and reliably, I had to completely disassemble the entire center feature to clean and polish EVERY moving part (pulleys included). Once I did that, I had to play with the adjustment on the string tension until it was just right, allowing the monkey to climb back up the tree after he gave the ball to the alligator. Below is a picture of the working center feature on my machine.

the weight need to be more then the plastic monkey but less then the weight of a pachinko ball...

and as jeff stated the friction of the string and the smooth action of the pullies will change the weight and its action

Yes, it is a Portland suburb, I have seen many for sale lately and wanted to add one more to play, got lucky and purchased 2 working(mostly) machines for $100, from craigs list delivered to my door even. Fr3d

Yes, there is a weight behind the white plastic cover. The cover is there to make sure it doesn't get caught on anything. I used Q-Tips and plastic cleaner to polish up inside there to make sure it was clean, smooth, and that there wasn't any friction to slow the weight and prevent the monkey from sliding back up the tree. It took me quite a while to get the center feature "tuned" properly, but once it did, it works reliably every time.
