I don't really see that it applies at all.

That subject is gambling, we aren't gambling with our machines. We merely play with gambling machines from another outside culture. The lights, sounds and game play intrigue us but in the end there is nothing to be won accept our own enjoyment. There is nothing to be lost but our time, if you even subscribe to that as a loss.

We are far from gambling junkies, we're at worst, game room junkies with a passion for imported treasures instead of the typical run of the mill naturalized versions (depending on your country of origin) we can go to our local establishments and play.
    Meanwhile, somewhere in Oklahoma.

No matter how someone sums it up(Media), their are always going to be people that are more influenced than others. Some thrive to win the big money (Casinos), and then their are us who just enjoy the machines for what they are. We put a couple tokens or balls in it and we are happy with just getting a bonus or a fever round. The moral of the story is don't pee on electric fences!

The true sign of being addicted is when you become naive enough to believe you can beat the machine ...as anyone here can attest there isn't one among us that has beaten the machine and moved on to something else ...just more of the same awaits us in the end ...

I want the BIG MONEY... but that does not seem to be my luck..
If my wife & I go to the casino, we split the money 70/30, me getting 30%. I am usually done & watching her in about 30 minutes.
With the Pachislo's I aways WIN. If I am out of tokens, I can just open it up & play some more... The casino's seem to get a little pi$$ed if I try that there.

What a bunch of crap...Evil casinos praying on those poor stupid people...we should shut them all down and throw those thousands of of people who wouldn't otherwise have a job, back out on the street. We must save them.

I think Tulsa put it best.
That article is about gambling, the only gambling we do is with the shipping companies. Or if we are going to get electrocuted by sticking our fingers where they don't belong with the machine turned on.

We students of Japanese culture. Isn't gambling illegal in Japan? Then we are not gambling, since these are not gambling devices.

But the addiction is just as bad. I need an intervention to stop me from buying more. I've got 11 in the truck right now and will be heading out in a little while to pick up another that I won a couple of days ago plus one sitting at Arby's plus a couple of cells/misc waiting for me in Japan.

    Compirate, I would agree...

    You need intervention!

Maybe I could figure out a way to make a buck from this hobby after all. I could open a rehab center!

Hey compirate, you know where to park the truck.
Just give me call when you arrive, I'll be more than happy to help you unload some into my car.

I also will be more then glad to intervene on your behalf. You can choose which location to stop at and drop them off. I would prefer TN, this way I don't have to reship them.
