Default Just bought my first machine last week and I love these things!

    Hey guys,
I'm a newbee, so be patient with me! Just went into an antique store last week (went to buy some old suit cases) and in the corner I saw these three Pachinko machines. I didn't know what they were but thought they looked cool, so I started to tinker (that's what guys do...right)! I bought one for $80.00 (he had it marked for $150.00) and took it home. It was a Nishijin A recycle and lucky for me I found lots of great info on the internet. Long story short, I went back and bought the other two! So I've greatly enjoyed going thru these machines, redoing the wiring, and making the bells ring. Cleaning the chrome has been the toughest part, but it's starting to shine. Going to build some cabinets next week. My brother already bought one from me and I'm keeping the other two...my son loves it!

And here's the one my brother is getting:

So is $80.00 a fair price guys? I see some amazing deals like , "I picked up a machine for $25.00" but that just seems like luck! I've seen these go for $250.00..."not working", so I'm pretty happy!

Also, I'm looking to buy a "single shot" one on craigslist...are those normally older and worth more?

Thanks for the great forum...I have a new love!
    Joe

Welcome to PachiTalk Joe! Looks like you definitely have the bug.

Pricing does tend to vary on the machines. It looks to me like you are really enjoying the $80 so in my opinion that constitutes a great deal. I have paid a lot more and paid less for some of my machines. As long as you enjoy the game than i wouldn't be too concerned about what you spent.

I do not have a single shot, however I am keeping my eye out for one to pop up locally. The one you found looks really good to me.

I like the single shot machines! They are less common than the Model B...like the one in Dan's machine. So you could say they are more valuable. I like to get my vintage machines for less than $100 including shipping (or gas if driving). Depending on condition...I consider $56-$60 a good price, less a great price, $60-$80 a little high...but acceptable, and $80-$100...I have to WANT it. Anything above that must be VERY unusual and CALLS ME. The one you are looking at looks good...in spite of the bad pics. Look at it in person, and see what condition it is really in, Use the back of your recycler as an example of if everything is intact. If you can get it for $60, and it is clean...then a good deal. If it is really clean, and firm on price...or lots of CLEAN balls, Then I would still get it for $80.
    And to Pachitalk!

    to Pachitalk.

When you get a chance can you please post some pics of the machines you have. We just love to look at them.

The single shot your looking at is about a 1966-68 so not really that old but everyone needs at least one single shot in their collection. I personally wouldn't say that one is worth too much more but price is debatable.

If you have any other question feel free to ask. and once agian welcome to PT.

Thanks all for the great info! I picked up the single shot...that thing is just cool! It looks like it's going to take some work to get it going again, but winters are long here in Nebraska and I was looking for a new hobby! I'll try to get some pictures out here soon!

    great looking machines..

price is always hard... condition and location... your Model "A" has some water stains.. your model "B" looks to be a bit nicer.. only some dirt on the Cell..

but a working machine is the best..

the Model "A" style is best for home use.. ya will be able to play it for longer times with less balls..

    but there all great machines

    and of course

This is the third one I bought from that same antique store...this one is probably the best looking, but I still going thru it to get it working. Have to find a video on the break down so I can clean it out good and get the right levers. I still have only 300 balls about...so I have 500 more on order!

Thanks again for the kind words! This has been fun!

Well the first one in post #9 is a 1972 Nishijin Model B (Thunder Bird or Wings) It is also the most basic version of the model B from that year.

    The Sankyo in post # 12 is a 1976 I think (Diablo).

*Also not the words in () are the themes. There are no true themes, they are based purely on what you see on the machine; i.e. the center feature or the background.

I have one similar to that, but the face was painted red. Nice old model A single shot. Post pics of the back - does it have plastic or metal trays?

I like the 3rd one you picked up at the antique store best. I like the unique trim around the shooter and tray.
