Power Flash Thunderbird ???

First dont tell the good LT but i started disasembly on his Power Flash.. Once he finds out i started hes going to wana know y im not done with it yet.. sooooooooooo shhhhhhhhhhhhhhh its a secret

got the back off.. got the solonoids off..

the relized there are two micro switches in the center of the thunderbird itself?? (only visable from the playfield side.. one on each side, right in the very center)

any one know what there purpose is??

Those switches are triggered by the pink and black triangle shaped pieces in the center jackpot above the bird's feet. When a ball hits either one the tulips on that side open.

Hey Mo,

I know I haven't been on in a while but I'll look at my PF this weekend and get back to. I'll be moving it from it's current location to my new ManCave this weekend so hopefully I'll have time to look.

However, I do think emma is correct. When the ball enters the center target area it will either hit the center hole or drop into the left or right side of the target. The micro switches you are looking at is what triggers the 4 pockets on either side to open. If the ball falls in the top pocket it is designed to move BOTH micros and open all eight pockets. If the balls into the either the left of the right side, it will trigger just that side's four pockets to open.

Again, I'll see if I get a photo and a better explaination this weekend if I can get the time.

Yep that's what they do and interestingly, as the ball enters either side it rolls to the opposite side and hits that switch. A cool touch. However FYI,when a ball enters the upper main jackpot it is directed out of the center jackpot and lands on a plastic ramp that then depresses a separate microswitch to open all the tulips. The two microswitches in question are not used when this happens.

hey mopar.

go back and look at part 2 of my PF video. you'll see when I drop in one side or the other of the center piece how it opens the whole half of tulips. that's what the switches are doing.

glad to hear you got it started. that's the hardest part for me, then I get some momentum and interest going.
