    Default Zoltan Coin OP !!!

Its 1:57 am. The third of 3 similar nights of continuous work on my Zoltan Project and now save a few minor touchups the machine is finished.

To complete this project I bought some items that brought the total cost of the project up.

I needed a router, router bits, jigsaw, jigsaw blades, metal snips and a nice pedestal base for what I was designing.

The base needed to be both heavy and decorative.

The solution I came up with was an Iron Birdbath that I saw at a Hardware store over the weekend.
It was perfect as it was heavy (For stability) and its appearance was not too far off from the Fortune Teller case.
I bought the Birdbath and promptly removed the bath for its wonderful base. Perfect but not cheap

The router was to cut the hole for the coin box. I have no wood working tools at all. I even bought a miter box and a saw for the molding. LOL

For little details I tried to be complete, for instance the Happ controls Coin Mech was painted in a Crinkle finish so I had to get Crinkle paint for the coin box. The Unit is supposed to be mounted with 1/8" Carrage Bolts and I had a very hard time finding that size. I went to 8 hardware stores and the smallest size that anyone had was 1/4".
I could have just used a small bolt but it wouldnt have been the same. Good thing I work in a museum with many shops as our Locksmith had 6, 1/8" carrage bolts. The exact number needed for the HappControls coin mech LOL.

The Material for the machine covering had to match the drapes of the bedroom more than the curtain of the Fortune Teller. I had to get Satin for the right material.

I didnt draw the covering tight as I wanted the machine to have a softer feel almost like curtains. If I was really anal I could add some drapping to the pedestal for a nice effect.

It was alot of work (No proper tools, most tools at my place
but working on the machine in Dahlias basement meaning if you forget or need something there is a lot of travel, I needed lots of things LOL)
Routers make one hell of a mess!!!

I cant find the progress/work pics right now but I have just taken pics the finished machine and shot a quick vid.

Of course its late and not enough light.

I hope you can make out the eye movement of Zoltan it is very cool.

I dont have a tiripod for the cam so I couldnt set it back far enough to show the coin being inserted but you can hear it.

For those of you with real woodworking tools,Some electrical skills and a place to do it, this is one great project. Very simple yet the result is impressive looking.

The coin box just slips into a wood box built into the cabinet
I have the lock but didnt install it as of yet.

Im also thinking of adding a light to the coin reject button which might be cool looking.

Anyway its late 2:32 and Im beat so Hope you guys get the inspiration to build your own Coin Op Fortune Teller.

Here is a tip if your floating head mech is making too much noise. unscrew the top 2 head mounting screws from the back and squirt just a tiny amount of electronic cleaner/lubricant, using the tiny straw applicator that comes with the cans, into the screw holes.
Remember just the smallest amount one quick SMALL
shot so that nothing drips onto the cloth or eye mech inside the machine. Then reinstall screws and lay machine on its back for about 10 mins and that should quiet it down just fine.

Now that I am awake and am looking at the machine.. I think it could use a black plexi Placard above the coin slot Saying something like ASK IF YOU DARE or somethting and the 25 cent symbol.

There is a member named Zoltar on Pachitalk, he posted in your other thread about this project.
His avatar is the original Zoltar machine, his posts that I have seen are funny, he kind of talks like Zoltar would.

I could not tell from your video, is the coin mech functional?
In the video, it sounds like you are putting a quarter in it.

I know Zoltar from Pachitalk. He appeared for the first time in a response to my old post about my small Zoltar fortune teller. I just dont know who Zoltar is.. Maybe I should ask ZOLTAN?.

Yes the coinop mech is the only way that the machine works now !
That was the point of the project.
