Default Life and Death of a Microwave Cart

My wife decided she wanted to throw away this old microwave cart we have. I said "Hang on there a minute... that would make a great pachinko cabinet!". She gave me one of those funny, sideways looks.

I wanted to make a cabinet that I could put any pachinko in. I wanted it to be completely contained, so that I could play continuously without having to load, or transfer spheres.

So after a couple of weeks of pondering what I was going to do with this thing, here's what I came up with:

    Hope you enjoy!!

The first thing I did was remove the top and the back.

Then I cut out holes for the ball lifter, and the rain gutter used to drain the balls from the front to the back.

I used 2 white laminated shelves to make side extensions, front trim pieces, and the back lid support. The top sides are secured to the base with dowels. Added a bunch of corner brackets to hold it all together, and that's about it.

Forgot to mention that I added wheels so this could be moved around easily!!!

    Some pictures of the back.

I used a pvc tee and a 45 to redirect the balls at the top of the lifter spring. Surge protector to turn it all off and on. Plexi so that I could monitor the ball level for the lifter. The plexi slides out to access the lifter.

    Pictures of the front.

The top lifts up so the machine can be quick changed from the front.

The ramps and gutter system will return balls to the lifter. This will come in handy during fevers, on the moderns, since the lower tray can be drained right back to the lifter.

Lots of storage space underneath! 100v power converter to run the ball lifter, and the Pica Cell cleaner.

The microwave has always lived over the oven. This used to store coffee, tea, and cookbooks.
