    Default Oops! Heh Heh...

I guess I was visiting PachiTalk too much at work and IT must not have liked it , because I can't access the site anymore when I'm at work and have to wait until I get home.

A co-worker told me this happened to them when they were visiting a site pretty regularly and then after a few weeks they were able to get in again.

I guess I have to watch it. Really I was only visiting during my breaks and at lunch.

Well, I'm sure someone with lots of technical know-how will be able to explain
exactly what has happened to you

Unfortunately, I'm not qualified to be that someone...

So I'll just sympathise and hope it gets sorted soon

Usually, they just block by domain name, so if you use the IP instead, it might work. PachiTalk.com

Sometimes they block by browser, starting with IE, then FireFox, but if you try with Opera or another browser, it'll work. Also, use remote desktop to your home computer. If/when they block the default RDC port of 3389, use another port. You have 65,535 to choose from, and they can't close them all (though in some cases, if they have high-end gear, they can block the RDC protocol, in which case switch to VLC).

In one case, I ran a line from the telco room through the ceiling and dropped into my office, bypassing all firewalls and filtering. I don't recommend that potential job-terminating method however.

Depending on the Acceptable Use Policy of the company, any attempt at bypassing a block might be cause for termination.

Well, try this for irony... My company just deployed Websense, cutting my access to pachitalk from my local network.

So, what do I do? I RDC into a corporate box. After browsing a few forum posts, I suddenly get the corporate restricted page notice.

I've used corporate for a long time so why the sudden change today? I think this thread jinxed me! So, my solution for now is remote desktop to my home computer.

    What timing...

Thank you for all the suggestions. I'll definitely be reading our policy before attempting anything other than the IP address and another browser. And I'll only try during my breaks and lunch this time.

Same here, I've been blocked at work, and because of this I don't get on the site much any more with my "after work" activity schedule... Oh wait, that is my KIDS' activity schedule.
