That machine is somewhat similar to sharmoni's 1940's Pachinko. It has more nails and features on the play field, but the simplicity of the mechanics on the back would lead me to believe that it could have been manufactured around the same time frame (perhaps a few year later?).

This one is also on YJA with the current bid at around 100 bucks with 9 bids and a few days left.

Do you think this one has different payouts for different pockets??

Just wondering since the pockets marked 400, 300 and 200 take different paths..I didn't know if maybe the 400s hit the payout 3 times, the 300s twice and the 200 once??

Or maybe I have no idea what I'm talking about!!

I don't see any payout mechanism at all...
Looks like all shot balls (and winning balls) are just returned to the drain tray next to the shooter.
Do you think this machine pre-dates payouts?

I was wondering that myself. It almost looks like parts are missing from the back. But I have seen several machines lately of this vintage with a similar and very simple back.

Looks like the two short pieces of metal on the right side are only half wide and angled down so they act a bypasses to get the balls over the top two jackpot levers. There's three levers: one to get triggered in the drop tube from the top two holes, a second to get triggered by balls from the middle top three holes, and the last to get triggered by all the balls from winning pockets. That means the top pockets will trigger all three levers releasing probably three balls, the second level winning pockets release two balls and the bottom level releases one. All winning balls recycle and loosing balls refill the jackpot tray.

Pretty awesome machine. I'd be over it in a heartbeat if it was in the States, but Japan auctions run until everyone gives up topping the highest bid, so I suspect this will end up in the thousands (US)—and that puts it out of my budget.

well. I told the wife over dinner (including rationalizations like... I needed to celebrate the new job, I have worked extra shifts this week, we're going to get a tax refund, maybe Mom will chip in for my Xmas present...)

practical wife says "you know, dear, you have a lot of money in your pachinkos now, do you think we should get an insurance rider to cover them?"

what does the pachi tamily think? I did just pay $1100 plus shipping for this pre-Masamura, and I will be putting it into a cabinet to protect it.

do people often insure their game rooms? is it worth it?

so good to be back to pachitalk. and how quickly the addiction returns

Think of it this way, if (heaven forbid) your home burned to the ground, would you want some money to use for rebuilding your collection? Some of the machines you have are antiques and irreplaceable, such as the pre-masamura and the Allwin. Also, your FrankenPachi is one-of-a-kind (true, you could build another one just like it, but would you?).

As long as the annual cost for the insurance rider is manageable, then why not insure them?

    Just my thoughts.

just make sure the "replacement cost" is clear to you.i have known people who have gotten screwed on other items because there is no actual bluebook value on antiques.what you paid good money for,and you know it is worth that much, your insurance company might consider it basically worthless.you might need to have your collection appraised.only have your collection insured for x amount of dollars in case of a loss.your homeowner's policy probably won't cut it.believe me,i have thought about the exact same thing with my stuff.

back in the 70's my cousin had a mint 1952 ford 2dr with about 15,000 miles on it, he had just replaced all the chrome trim and bumpers with new old stock ones.

a drunk hit him and totaled the car, the insurance company gave him $200.00

he just had regular coverage, not collectable value!!!

I came VERY close to bidding on that one. It came down to bidding on this one or buying another machine I'm currently eyeing.
Congrats and that's a great score and for much cheaper than I thought. You will definitely have to make some vids of that one being played and it's mechanism.

my point exactly.my insurance company once told me my vette was worth 250.00 totalled.where on god's green earth can you buy a replacement vette for that kind of money?that is why that car has been sitting in my garage undriven ,it's tires will never see pavement until i get it appraised and insured for the appraised value.
