Default In need of expert-medical-pachinko diagnosis Powerflash Littleman

so we FINALLY scored a Powerflash !! ..somebody in Boston had interest in it..but I was able to pick it up for $75..not bad as the last one that showed up on Craigslist in the northeast..went to the westcoast.

I know this so far... needs new plexiglass, a transformer, remove balls from the mechanism, the ball tray has a cigarette burn in it, missing a back cover, bent contact as shown, and not sure what the orange wires went to (assuming transformer) and TLC. The good thing is that for the most part it needs dust bunny service.

I am attaching pics now..please let me know what you think. The one sketchy thing for me is that inner (solenoid) side wires look bent..are they supposed to be that way?

thanks! bc3 and my excited 7yr old

Most of the issues you described are typical to rescued vintages and are easily fixed. In a couple of the pics you are pointing two a leaf switch with bent leaves. That one is for the low ball light and is not critical to game play. On all leaf switches you need to bend them until there is just a slight space between them and also clean the contact area with a nail file/fine sandpaper, etc. I'm not sure what you mean by solenoid wires being bent but just insure that all wires are intact and are hooked up properly. If you mean the small metal rods on both the tulips and the moving solenoid assembly, make sure that the tulip ones are pointing straight from the back of the machine and the assembly ones mesh correctly with those.

On both my PFlashes those orange wires are connected to the jackpot leaf switch.

Congrats on the machine. Looks to be in great shape.

Let me know if you get in a bind with that panel and/or don't feel like fabricating one. I can dig a spare up and ship it to you.

    Enjoy!

Not in NJ..in LON--gisland. (but I am going to the NHRA supernationals drag races in NJ on saturday...)

Thanks Emmadog for the help..good speaking with you, and the pointed links are helpful for sure.

So as of right now I need the ball track cover, an upper tray (cigarette burn) and the flat panel cover for the back. I just ordered a transformer and should be here in a couple three days.

At this point I am wondering if I shouldnt keep and eye out for a B model ..the chrome trim isnt pitted..but not as nice as it could be. I havent tried to polish frame yet..so dont know if it will come back.

Siouxzan..i will take you up on your offer.. I will PM you.

    Thank you everyone! Bob

Glad to hear you're pointed in the right direction. For the frame you should use 0000 steel wool. It'll shine it up very well and remove all but the worst imperfections. It can be a little harder to find but it's out there.
