    Default King Camel game counter

I would like to know if the green LED game counter and the LED's that make the panel glow blue to the right and left of the game counter are operational on this model?

They have never come on on my King Camel.

We had a discussion here about it not long ago. Doggone if I can find it right now though.

No one else in the thread had seen them come on either, if I remember correctly.

Thank you Tony Junior.I thought something was wrong with the circuit board so I swapped it out with my Speed Racer thinking that maybe the LED's were burned out.The board from King Camel worked fine in my Speed Racer and the Speed Racer board worked the same in King Camel as the original King Camel board worked.I figured I'd ask here before I called tech assistance. You have eased my mind!

The ONLY place that counter has ever worked is on the promo video on the manufacturer's website - obviously a video of a pre-production machine. It's never worked on mine, nor on at least 3 others that people on the forum own.

Is this the only Sammy model where this display does not work? Both my Sammy's, Betty Boop and Hard Boiled, this display works.

I really like it! The video(?)/LCD(?) top center is fun to watch. My niece, who can read and speak Japanese, came by this morning and explained a lot of what was happening there. She couldn't read it all, but got enough out of it to explain what the hero(?) goes through in his battles.

I had only put a couple hundred tokens through it last night when we first set it up. They came over this morning. She played about 70 tokens and hit a BB! The writing on the video moves pretty fast and she had trouble keeping up with all of it, but we got the gist of it.

I would rate the play at a 9.5 out of 10, sound at 9 out of 10 only because of no volume controls either found or installed...yet. The video is sharp as a tack and gives you many hints on possible upcoming wins.

My one objection is the token input. It is shorter than any other machine I have and is set at a slight angle making it a little more difficult for me to stack more than 5 or 8 at a time. Another thing about the token insert is it is wider than the others, allowing stacked tokens to slip sideways and drop out if not centered exactly. The Arraking has the same wide token input slot, but not set at that slight angle. However, that is a very minor negative and probably wouldn't be any problem to folks with hands.

I did notice that even with the token tray and the hopper empty and the door opened, the machine would tilt forward! Just like if you were to open the door with a full token tray. If you were to put this machine on a shallow table, be SURE to anchor it with a chain to the wall or screw it to the table! It isn't quite as front heavy/door open with six or seven hundred tokens in the hopper.

As far as my King Of The Battle World from Milt, it is very clean, was well packed and arrived with no damage whatsoever.

It is a smooth running and quite machine. I would give it an overall 9 out of 10 rating.

Side note: I talked to Milt a couple days ago and asked him why the KOTBW is so much cheaper than any other IGT machines and did it have anything to do with quality. He told me it was because there was so much Japanese associated with it, the quality was the same.

    Hope this helps some!

That display doesn't work on my King Camel either. Come to think of it, this display doesn't work on my Golgo 13 either. Is this normal for Golgo 13?

No one that I've heard of has one that has that particular display working. Interesting they wouldn't incorporate that into the machine when all their other models do have it.

The golgo 13 is not a Sammy but a Heiwa model.

No point in sending the board back. I really thing that it's not supposed to work. My best guess is that they built a prototype it use for photos, the video, etc. It had a working counter. But has they finished the design and got it ready for production they found that they had run out of memory. With all the strange movements that they've programmed into the reels, the software was probably more complex that they thought it would be. So it was time to start cutting out code so it would fit. The first thing to go was driving the counter, since all that information already appeared on the matrix display.

But by then they already had the front glass done - which had space for the counter. And, the board, which they use in a lot of machines, had the counter on it.

So, you end up with a machine that works find, but just has a useless counter that you assume should have worked, but never did, and never will.

Question King Camel game counter was LIGHT UP

I was wondering if anyone else has ever seen the game counter light up?

I was playing my King Camel today and it Light up.
It had 888 on it and the blue side lights were on.

I still had 25 credits and all there coin lights were also on but for some strange reason it would not let me spin, I even tried inserting more tokens but they just fell through.

I happened to bring out my video camera an make a small video of it on.
I have uploaded some of it here all don't have sound and all are the same thing:
King Camel 5.29 MPG For those that have broadband and don't like SWF
King Camel 1.84 SWF For those that have dial-up
King Camel 2.65 SWF Projector EXE For those who want a EXE Player of the SWF

After take the video I decided to open the case up and see if I could see anything out of place. I couldn't so I then closed the door and turned the key to the left and it turned off the light and went back to normal and allowed me to continue and play.

I think it just took a trip to neverland on you or it possibly came across a white rabbit. I'll assume once you turned it off and back on and it went back to normal play that 888 was no longer displayed as well.
