    Default My Latest Mod

It's not very original, since I stole the Idea from my Grandview machine. But I got these for all of my machines

Looking at your picture, I'm surprised the reels are exposed from the backside? :-? Which machine is that? My cabinets are all sealed. Seems like it might be a dust magnet and it looks as if the reels are very close to the wood as they spin?

I do like the idea of having the key on a tether, though!

You can get those coil cords with a hook. I mount an eyelet on the back of the machine and just hand the cord from it. That way I can just unhook it when needed and I don't have to stretch it out.

This is a Sea Master that I got from Zcore. It's a 1999 model Yamasa. The 4th reel is fun, but the sound is not as much to my liking as some of my other machines. This is a curious machine in that the cabinet itself shows NO wear and tear, and none of the knock-outs have been knocked out. Zcore said it was the only one he'd ever see like that. The front of the machine and the mechanicals show light to normal wear for a machine of it's age.

Zcore and I both took note of the reels open to the back as well. The opening has screw holes around it that look like a cover plate could be installed, but the holes have never had screws threaded into them, they are clean smooth holes. I'm taking that machine up to my wife's grandfather. I may fashion a cover plate for the back before I take it to him.

Maybe a mirrored cover that is see thru would be interesting if it would reverse the view. In any case I do agree it should be covered if not to prtotect against dust etc but also it has to be louder with that uncovered.

There was a Screen back there that someone removed, For heat transfer.

I would not do anything solid.

I have a few machines that have an open back. I purchased some perforated metal sheets from Home Depot.

Here is a site if you need some info on perforated metal.

Also- great idea about using the coil key rings!
    Thanks!1
