Default Newbie Questions - #1 Machine life?

Hello all. I've recently joined your forum here and let me say, I have learned tons! I'm an English Teacher by trade, but I've been a Pachinko student by night for the last few days. Wow! We're getting ready to buy a machine - our first, if you don't count the Epoch "machine" that I had as a kid, and we're wondering what the expected lifetime of a machine is. Any help?

    Thanks.

As these machines have been built for parlor use, they are very well made. I think you will be able to enjoy your machine for years.

Very nice, we have a lot of English people as members. There's one in particular you need to talk to.

Welcome to our site! The pachinko addiction is a wonderful one as well as pachislo. I hope you'll have a great experience here and want to come back.

Awesome! I'm hoping to get one by Christmas. I've been trudging through hundreds of posts looking for tips on vendors, etc. It seems, however, that most of you are to the point where you clean your own machines and make them play-ready yourselves. Is that a safe assumption?

Depending upon who you purchase from, you may end up cleaning it yourself. That does not stop sellers from advertising them as cleaned and prepped. We fell some of the sellers merely put the machines outside in the wind for a bit and call it good.

If you want a top notch experience, ask one of our members Arbycoffee what he might have for sale. When you get one from Arby, it's ready to go. All you do it unbox it and enjoy it.

Oh and in response to your first question, these really are built quite well and should last you for long time to come.

There are many dealers that will deliver a machine ready to play. As to perfectly clean and sparkly in all the nooks and crannies that you don't see from the outside, there is only one place to get those machines. That is from Arbycoffe. He is a moderator on here and has the bug worse than most of us. An Arby machine is the standard that all vendors strive for.
But that being said, you can get a machine that is ready to go from many vendors. browse through the vendors & manufacturers section and you will be able to figure out who is great, good, and bad without too much trouble.

    Oh and....

Actually, I think most of us would like to get pristine condition machines, however, there are only one or two vendors who provide that. (Actually only one) There are also very reputable dealers who will send you a clean, working machine that just needs a little TLC, and then there are dealers that will send you something that needs to be completely re-worked. We have some members that are up for a challenge and others that would just like to plug in the machine and play. We also have one or two that will dismantle a pristine machine to clean it again...just for the fun of it Welcome!

If bagoness is an English teacher, there are probably already lessons and homework assignments on their way to somebody, Doc.

Just do the lessons if you get them... 'cuz it REALLY looks like that teacher could keep an "eye" on you.

    Welcome to Pachitalk bagoness,

As far as machine life goes, despite the fact that they are only designed for a life of a couple of years of parlour use, there isn't much in them that can go wrong.

Most 'repairs' are just going to involve cleaning out dirt or debris that causes ball jams, and occasionally you're going to need to change a few light bulbs.

As far as real repairs goes, I've seen machines with problems with the wiring going to the doors that has got trapped and broken. Some power supplies that were most likely damaged due to pluging in to the wrong voltage electrical outlet, and a couple with LCD problems.

The only electrical things in a Pachinko with a shelf life, is the backlight in the LCD display. I'd expect them to have a life of around 5 years continuous use, so unless you leave your pachi's switched on 24 hours a day, you should get a few decades out of them. Even if they do fail early, they're not expensive and I'd expect that most TV repair shops will have had enough experience of changing them by that time!

I have never heard a machine wearing out, only being broken or fried.

You are a member of a new nation, Pachination

The concept of PachiTalk was to bring together anyone and everyone who has a passion for these amazing Japanese creations. Once you stepped through the doors at PachiTalk.com, you become part of the Pachination.
You are no longer Japanese, American, English, Italian, German, etc. (If I missed you I am sorry). You are now considered a Pachinational, put that on an application! We are all one big entity amongst ourselves and our Pachis. Segregation is not our philosophy and the seperating of diffent cultures will not happen, we are one, under the Pachi Flag.
