They sell solderless connectors at Radio Shack.

You might try "wire nuts", they make them for thin guage wires too.

    thx for the help
but i was looking for a replacment for solder.
The connectors I have must be soldered to ....they are bare controllers with solder connectors on either end.
Anyways I found my solder gun and all is well now, volume installed and a nice and quiet playable machine now.

For future reference, I think what you were referring to is the type of emergency solder tape that you wrap around a conneciton and melt with a match. Radio Shack sells it: http://www.radioshack.com/sm-see-all...i-2062716.html

I have not seen it for quite some time but there used to be a product called Liquid Solder. It came in a tube like toothpaste it did not work that well. You would squeeze it onto the joint, hold it for 30-40 seconds and it would harden. In a few minutes it would cure and you would have a no heat soldered joint, problem was that it did not hold up and in about a year the joint would fail and needed to be redone. I beleive that the product was discontinued in the 1980's. A quick check of the internet only shows "Liquid Solder Flux"

I have used these and they work pretty well. It would be very difficult to use them on a syscom style volume controller though. Would work fine for connecting wires together or connecting wires to terminals.

    Here you go poolenglish... http://www.solder-it.com/solderpaste.asp

The stuff is called silver solder or solder paste. It works well if you apply to the correct materials and allow it to cure correctly. It still doesn't beat real soldering though.
