Designer Paper Towels

I live in a fairly logical world, most things add up and make sense to me. The other day however my wife hits me with this statement:

Don't use these paper towels I'm setting out, they are designer paper towels, use the other paper towels in the cabinet.

HUH? Designer paper towels? What's up with this? It's a freakin' paper towel with daisy's on it or some such crap! Who cares as long as I can wipe my hands or whatever else I choose to with them. They're paper!

So I reply, if you don't want me to use them, don't put these out, put out the ones you want me to use. "But when guests come over we want them to see these"! HUH?

I can never once in my life remember studying someones paper towels in their home? I have no idea if they were designer or not and I'm betting no one will notice ours either.

Now is it just me, or does this concept of designer paper towels seem silly?

I get the same thing. I use a lot of paper towels. So I go to Sams or Costco and buy them. Then my wife says "they are ugly and where will we store them?". Then she goes to Jewel and pays twice as much.

my dear wife has those paper towels (i can't use) and bathroom towels that I can't touch and dish towels (got to use up the old one in the drawer).
There is clean-next too, I can't use either.
Now I might be understanding of this if we got alot of people in our home, but no, Kiaigumi was the first one in three years plus.
The dust on them things was half an inch thick from non use!

How about designer toilet tissue? When the guests come, put that out... but otherwise use the scott 1000 sheet.

yes I forgot that, but I am not allowed to use the guest bathroom, it could be running down my leg, no go to the other one.

all the stuff that is there but you cant use.. so whats the point in buying it.??

We have the same issues with the Napkins.. Heaven forbid the guests wipe there hands with white paper!!! End of the world as we know it....

it basically boils down to this (as far as i can tell).. when your friends come over see that you have nothing but white napkins etc.. they wont say anything then.. but when they leave they will advise all their friends that "you" are the people that have white napkins thus dropping you down the social ladder and you wont get invited to anymore parties etc with fancy napkins, dishes knives forks etc.

But if you use the Deisgner napkins!!! you will be exalted throughout the land as a great host that everyone loves and this will increase your standing etc etc...

well at least thats how i think it goes...

Tulsa.. may i suggest its time to hire an interior decorator to brighten up the place maybe get some curtains to go with the Grey and dark red...??

if people are going to come over to pay attention to that sort of thing.. i dont think i want them to come over..
i'd much more prefer people to come over for the sake of coming over.. white napkins and all...
