Default Anyone seen this? - Token tray silencer...

I found this in the tray of a yamassa Penguin paradise. I couldn't figure out why the inside of the tray was black and not metal. This is actually a perfectly fitting tray insert made of molded plastic. Seems to fit Penguin paradise, King Pulsar, and Cyber Dragon. Possibly others? Anyone else seen these?

You'd be surprised how headache inducing it is when you have that sound x 100 , that's why this type of thing is made. Pachinko trays have them too.

I've cut up a nice thick mouse pad and lined the tray with it.. works very well.. and we all got an old mouse pad lying around..

I have even lined the inside of the token spout with Mouse(pad) foam cuts down on all that ching chinging.

It seems like about a year ago someone posted that they found some thin, adhesive backed foam sheets at wal-mart in the crafts section that worked very well for quieting down the coin tray and/or chute. I haven't looked for them or tried them, but I remember the thread.

I'ev been looking for some thin adhesive backed rubber or foam to use for similar purposes (though I'm not keen on lining the tray - I put a towel in the tray when I have to quiet the coins soon after my son's bedtime).

However I did have an intrinsict problem with the "machine gun" effect of my King Camel coin hopper. I'm not sure if it was the original made for the machine (as someone has made some modifications), but it shoots coins rapid fire agains the slot's door before they fall don the shoot. So I decided to put a pad in there to quiet it down. I tested first with some thick tape, but went for this inexpensive dollar store solution (skid pads):

I removed the coin shute, cut the pad to fit and adhered it to the spot where the coins hit, and voila!

no more rapid machine gun (which was the most objectionable sound my SO kept complaining about).

Thats what I have done. Dunno if it is safe or not but I cut a piece of scrap wall paneling and cut foam rubber out of an old couch cushion and stuck it in the undernieth side of my coin hopper. I used the paneling first then put the foam in that way the foam wouldn't get into the moving parts. no problems so far....

What I used for my K C is I went to home depot and bought some heavy duty felt pads that you use on the legs of tables and chairs when you have wood flooring. They are sticky on one side and have the thick felt on the other. I didnt even have to cut or trim as it fit perfect. Ernie

Almost forgot. To silence the tray even more, I lined my tray with rolled matting that you use in tool boxes to keep your tools in place. It is black and comes in a roll. Just cut to fit. Ernie

I used the stuff Mr. Gneiss posted the pics of. Mine was actually called a router mat (used to hold a piece of wood to the table while using a router on the wood). It worked well for silencing the tokens, but made it a bit difficult to get the tokens back out of the tray when the time inevitibly came.
