It was the half human/half Japanese GAMING MACHINE hybrid concept; where there's a crossover from machine to human and vise versa. It all started with Paula's "They look like sperm" comment, in response to the original "what do these do"? about the whatever they are things with the squiggles. It sort of spawned from there.
