    Question Intresting question?

i got asked a couple of interesting questions by a friend and it has got me wondering i know that most machines come with a parralell pot that needs a dongle and that that port was used to plug the machine into the parlors computer and that a few like starwars have a rj45 sockett that sugests that it used an eaither conection to the parlors computer vi a networ dose that mean that we could therefor network our own machines at home is this rite and if so where would you start looking for the software and would it be more than likly to be writen in japanese
also the same guy threw another one into the mix and asked if it was posible to re program the roms
the reason for the networking question is that i used to work for a company that wrote its own software for uk and usa market and also made the hardware to alow them to network video games to count the tokens/money in and to alter the price of the machine per play and also had the option of free play so as they restoked the arcade with new machines they could have an open night or they did arcade partys for £10 a head for 2 hours and all the vids were free play my friend also worked for the same company and we both thought that if it is posible to network the machines you could use 1 pc as a token/spheare counter for lots of cyclic machines instead of making one counter or bying one counter per 1 or 2 machines
My rice krispies told me to do it

Yes it is possible. Let me see if I can search through my links and find some of the companies that manufacture the hardware (not sure about software) that networks the machines.

    Just because it's a 25pin DB or an RJ45 dosen't mean it's Parallel/ethernet.
The machines/CR units/Ball Loan units act independantly of the parlor computer system. The units can hook up to the parlor system, but are only signals (on/off) signaling errors/machine performance (payouts), same as the Battle Counters.
Don't have the pinout but there should be a way to make the machine payout via the CR connector or the RJ45. The CR Unit connects to the 25DB and also has a RJ45 connector. In the parlors, the CR unit can control the pachinko machine (to loan balls).
If we could get a quick translation of item 5 on this page (you know who you are ):
    http://gibisans.com/Pachipictures/CR...Manual0032.jpg
this is the RJ45 connector on the CR Unit, might be the same on the Sankyo.

Your starting to sound like me, if there is a plug/socket without something plugged into it, I want to know what it is and where can I get one! I've probably spent more for the extras than I have for machines!

If you wanted to do a computer battle counter, you would do just as well with some kind of connection to the battle counter connectors at the top right (as you look at the back of the machine).

Yep plus doing it slightly diferent with vids i was wondering if it was posible
that thread you linked was a great help
as soon as i have a working version i will upload it and link to it in a thread for all
so expect some more strange questions to appear
also you threw an intresting one up of the ball loan system off the side of the machine it could be possible to run that through the same software so you know how many balls you started with to save having to put the balls shot counter in so the software would take start total + win total - lost total = balls left giving you the balls you would have in your hand at the end of the session

The Card Reader connector is definitely not a Parallel port, I've just spent most of today figuring out all of the connections to it on my Sankyo machines.

There are 2 connections used for the 'parlour buttons' on the front of the machine, 10 connections used for a 3 digit 7-segment display and one for a single red LED that are all next to these buttons. Then there are two inputs and two outputs (that are all opto isolated), that I've yet to figure out. The rest are power connections.

If the two inputs on the CR connector are just simple on/off signals, then hopefully grounding pins 11 or 23 (ground is pins 8 & 9), should produce a payout. I was expecting them to be some kind of serial port, so haven't experimented with them yet.
That gives me something to play around with tomorrow, but for now it's.

guess I need to restart my computer, cause I don't have the 'thank you' buttons anymore so "thank you" to rupan777 (a given) and to daverob.

Well I played around with the input/output pins on the card reader connector, and haven't managed to work anything out. It doesn't seem to be simple on/off signalling in this case (though I could be wrong!), it might still be some kind of serial port but it's a bit difficult to work out when you've only got guesswork to go on.
I guess I'm going to need to get myself a suitable card reader unit to connect to it and then take a look at the signalling on a 'scope or logic analyser.

Same here with money, I've gone from zero to four pachinkos in three months, so the wallet is starting to feel the strain!

I guessed that I'd have to import one (along with the ball lifter I'm looking for), but not sure how to go about finding one.

where you would put the dongle if it takes one or on some of the realy new ones there is an rj45 socket on the back looks a little like a phone plug
seeing your posts in the elco led thread are you looking to join the investigation as we are not sure about the rj45 yet as to if it is a controle port from ball loan machine
