    Default Star Wars Advice

    Hello...again,
I replaced the transformer on the Star Wars machine with a 24V 110-120 5Amp beast. The screen is not displaying anything at all. Do you guys think I should move it up an amp to perhaps 6?

    Thanks,

No, 5 amps should more than be enough to simply display your screen. Something else is wrong.

You by chance wouldn't have the transformer wired backwards and have the 120 v input side to the pachinko would you?

    Hi,
I checked the transformer wire and dongle and both are hooked up correctly. I am going to have to spend a few more hours on this

    Thanks anyhow,

My friend's (Pachinkowiz) machine is completely messed. Nothing works and after working on it for close to 2 hrs I have no idea what is wrong with it. I changed the transformer and checked all electrical wires, dongle etc.. Its still not firing up. If anyone has any ideas, I too would like to hear them because I too am completely stuck.

Fixed it. His Dongle had 3 spikes missing and I replaced it with a new one. Took a whopping 3 hrs to fix.

Hate to dredge up an old topic... but my Star Wars machine doesn't have a dongle at all. It works fine without it though... but I do wonder if it's been modified to not need one in some other way. Also what other mods might be hampered if it was modded to not need a dongle?

This site has been a HUGE reference!!!

I've done a lot of searching but above is one question I can't seem to find the answer to.

    Thanks!!

The dongle connector has resistors soldered across it if it doesn't have the actual dongle.... Take a look and you'll see them taking the place of the connector.

    And, a BIG WELCOME, ZOTTIG!

Thanks but nope... the connector is clean... nothing in it. I have a friend who has Rose of Versailles and he mentioned how important the dongle was. I was concerned mine didn't have one. I looked in the box for it.

I am an IT professional and while it's been a while since I've seen a 25pin serial port... but as far as I can tell there is no modification to it at all.

I can't see any modifications to the main board (unless the seller did them on the back side) but thanks for the info. I mean it works OK... I really am not concerned other than I wonder what it would affect should I decide to get freaky and add a card reader, ball loan system or something.

I just like to know the base-line so I know what was modded by someone other than me so I know what I can mod myself.

The ones that I have seen modded this way also have a soldering iron sized hole melted through the clear plastic circuit board cover to enable them to quickly place the solder jumper underneath.

OK now I am getting curious. I see absolutely no mods like that either. I mean I am fine that it works... just curious what was modded and where on the board I should be looking. You'd think the seller would have done the dongle as it sounds easier then a circuit board mod.

Thanks everyone! The response has been amazing!

One more question... are there actual gameplay FAQs? So far I think I have most things figured out as far as what triggers what... other than what some LEDs represent in the lower left of the playfield.

I see that the passthrough triggers one of four square LEDs and starts a red dot and red X flashing. But I don't know what all that means in terms of gameplay. There is also a yellow LED there that I've seen lit before but no clue why and it's never been on again. Though the middle jaws never open either... I am not sure what triggers them.

Thanks everyone! I have recommended this site to a few friends. One is into vintage units and the other one has Rose of Versailles and is getting Cutey Honey and more to be sure.

This is truly an addiction waiting to happen.

    Ben
The passthrough that triggers the four square LED's are how many times the flippers underneath the start pocket will open. you can bank up to 4. They open and close so fast you might never see them do it. Also the yellow LED your talking about should light everytime a ball goes in the start pocket. Enjoy your game and keep playing it, you will figure everthing out in time.
