Post Manuals for Pachinkos > In English?

    Hello,

It's a quick question please, I can find loads of Japanese manuals online, but that's no good even for a novice Japanese reader like myself, therefore does anyone know if there are any English translations for Pachinko machine:questionm

I have just purchased Thunderbirds, Bruce Lee, Mermaids and possibly one other, any help would be much appreciated

    Many thanks

    Patrick

Maybe it's time for me to jump out of translating existing materials and just start writing up play manuals. What do you think guys?

I don't think it would matter either way....translation is probably more time consuming because it takes two different tracts of thought to do. It's up to you guys. Let me know...

    phampshire,

When you say manuals, do you mean play guides? I could really use actual machine specification or service manuals and schematics, at least for an Eleco Ltd. machine like Hanabi Hyakkei or Beast Sapp and a Sammy machine like King Camel - I have discovered I have a Japanese translator amongst my old business acquaintances.

A General Moderen Play Manual would be of great help to all the new people getting their first pachinko.
One that covered the flipper, Start pocket, Bonus pocket, Win extra balls pockets, Fake go thru on the right side.
Shooting and grounding the ring or not. Stop botton.
Why machines can come with bent nails and why vendors do straight them.

rupan's specific talent that is so rare is his ability to translate so well. I definitely vote you stay with that, Jon, if I have to choose between one or the other.

But, hey, if you want to do both, sounds like a plan.

A very common refrain, with no pat reply.

You are onto something Rupan, but the entire burden should not fall upon your shoulders alone. I believe that you could make an extremely valuable contribution as not many of us understand the culture, parlor basics, the games, and the language as you do. The rest of us however should assist by pooling our collective creative resources and construct game manuals.

A customized play manual would be the first thing that I as a new user would die for.

Rather than re-inventing the wheel each time, I would like to see a manual attachement built in to the Pachitalk Museum data base. In other words, to provide a central depository for all things Pachi as Tulsa and the moderators envisioned it. We have the resources to gather and create it; a central web-site, manufacturer data like Stealth's videos and Big Bears manuals, Arby's photos, intelligent people who understand their game's nuances, reviewers, researchers, hardware people, graphics people, an entire community. Some experienced, some new comers with lots of enthusiasum. This would benefit the Vendors as well as decent manuals would help to further expand the hobby and help them sell more games.

    With a properly organized and designed manual, most of ithe contents would be common to a large segment of the available games. Common elements would consist of Pachinko history, manufacturer history, game basics and theory, general care and feeding, and so on. Only two, or three chapters would be machine specific;

    - Manufacturers data, specs, flyers/brochures, pachinko museum, nifty 777 stuff
    - Gameplay philosophy, stragegies, reaches, super reaches and fever elements
    - Physical elements that make a machine unique, photos of switches, controls, hoppers, gates, etc.

Perhaps one general manual section and a series of game specific chapters.

Would politics allow for a manual created by all and available to all? Am I experiencing a lucid moment or just blowing smoke?

For those of you not familiar with the MAME developement team, take a look at www.mamedev.com, these guys have been doing something similar by collecting and preserving arcade game history.

I think you might be onto a very good idea. Creating a work and putting in a journal would be the ideal place for such an item.
