    Default Control box for Pachinko

I am planning to build a control box that will be mounted to my Pachinko cabinet. I am including the following:

    • AC Power Switch
    • 2 Dual gang pots w knobs for controlling up to four speakers
    • A button to simulate center pocket
    • A buttom to simulate the alternate pockets
Any reason this a bad idea and is there anything else I should be adding to the box?

    Thanks again everyone!

No reason it's a bad idea, not sure what the point of the alternate pocket simulation is for except for getting some balls from the payout hopper.
    Meanwhile, somewhere in Oklahoma.

I think it's a great idea. Cool project! Please keep us informed how it works and send up some pics when done.

I have done something similar on mine but installed in the casing. The one thing you want to be careful of is keeping the continuity for the power to the a\c switch the same. I install a 3 prong plug to make sure it is plugged in the same way all the time.

Thanks, dritz. That is one neat modification! And, it looks like it came from the factory.

OK based on everyone's advice I am going to go with two volume controls plus the button plus the power switch.

I would really like to mount these on or in the cabinet. I have done the research and design and have figured out what components I will need.

The only thing I am having trouble figuring out is how to mount the controls to the cabinet. They are all panel mount controls and require a panel thickness of 1-3mm. The cabinet is made of wood. The controls do not all need to be together. In fact, I am planning on putting the power switch in a different spot.

I could use some help with ideas of how to mount reasonably attractively.

I was thinking of cutting some holes in the cabinet and then attaching a black panel to the outside. I have two problems with my theory. First, I am not sure the best way of cutting a small rectangular hole in the panel. Second, I have no idea where I could even get a panel like that.

Any idea would be much appreciated.

try the lid off a project box from raidio shack or a pice of fomex for the panel and if you drill a hole in the corner of where you want the rectangle cut then put a jigsaw in the hole and cut away or use a router to cut the hole depends on what power tools you have to hand

Hmm...the rectangular hole I need it 1/2"x5/8". I am not sure I have the talent to do a hole that small with a jigsaw.

lol sorry didnt realise you needed it that small the fomex will be better as a plate project box lid a bit big or make the hole so as the switch gose in with the lip touching the cabinet a put a touch of glue on the lip as for the hole i wold drill a 5/8 hole and enlarge the hole to the size you need with a file or go for the router option
