Question Alright, alright, you talked me into it...

I purchased my first pachislo not too long ago and I've been bitten by the bug. I've been debating what to get next (aside from mental help), and people keep urging me to try pachinko instead. Well, I think I'm persuaded. If I can find the right machine.

I had my first pachinko game when I was around 12. A vintage model from the 60s or 70s. I had a lot of fun with that machine, and I even had to install all the lights myself (the machine had been completely stripped).

So, now I'm looking at my first modern pachinko. I know everyone is all excited about Star Wars, but I've never really been into the Star Wars theme so much. Plus since everyone is into it, it's kinda ...well, pricey. I'd like something a little more modest. I'd like to keep it under $250 if possible.

I'd love to get a machine with an HD display. Sakura looks absolutely beautiful, although a bit feminine themed. I don't care at all whether it's American or Japanese. None-anime themed machines are a plus, but not a requirement.

    So, any suggestions? :questionm

your best bet would be trying to sniper one from a good dealer on ebay.

there are bargains out there if you are patient

I would agree, save your money and when a quality machine comes up on ebay or on special on a dealers site, jump on it. That way you get the best of both worlds. The hardest part is waiting for the deal to show up!!

But what are some good machines to look for? I don't know which ones are good deals and which ones aren't.

It's a little harder to make recommendations. Machines are less readily available and the selection is more limited than Pachislo. Also, the machines that most people want tend to be more expensive.

Here are my current Pachinko purchasing thoughts:

    1. If the theme looks fun to you, chances are the Pachinko will be fun for you.
    2. You need at least 1000 balls unless your machine is cyclic.
    3. The condition is usually directly related to its age. The older the machine, the worse the condition.
    4. If possible, try to get a machine with a key.
    5. Pachinko machines are only "finished" in the front. The side are exposed wood and the back is open. Most vendors will supply some simple feet so it will standup but you will probably want to either make or buy a simple cabinet.

I love the realism of the Sakura machine, but the purple case and all the pink bits are maybe a little much (although I'm giving it some thought). The less cutesy ones would be my first choice (Sea Story has some great color to it, but its very cartoonish).

The Sakura case isn't purple, it's actually a deep burgundy-ish color. I would really give the machine a chance because, though it is somewhat feminine, it is a really nice machine and has a fabulous light show. I would recommend Sea Story in a hearbeat....but any other particular themes you are interested in??

Whilst it's fresh in my mind Godzilla was a great pachinko game, the bonus & super bonus rounds had me amused for many a long hour, Pink Panther was also very entertaining, whilst SeaStory also had some great attractions.

For me it's Godzilla, Fever, Bruce Lee and Cherry Blossom

    Have fun
