Neo Planett ELVision short
Well last night while playing my Neo Planett the ELvision screen just went dead on me.
nothing, no power at all going to the screen.
This happed during the BB round right as it started.
To say the least I was not a happy camper when the ELvision died on me.
So off the stand and into the work shop she go's for a complete check up.
All the connections seemed to be in good shape, no wire's were lose or broke.
Nothing burnt or cooked from the look's of things.
But still no power to the ELvision.
A hour later I found the problem with the EL vision.
If you look below the coin mech you will see a board with
four quick connector's on it. It seem's that over the years metal filing's
from the token's and the coin mech have fallen onto and have worked
their way into the connector causing the connection to short out!
This is a first for me! I unpluging and cleaned the connection's (four of them in total)
withsome Q-tips and cleaner and blew the connector's out with some compressed air.
I reconnected everthing and turned the power back on.
Yes! that's all the problem was!. Metal filing's on and in the connector's
causing the ELvision to short out.
CN-1 was ok but still cleaned.
CN-2 was the worst's. This was the connection that was causing the short.
CN-3 and 4 were pretty bad too but all cleaned up now!.
After the cleaning I used some ducktape (sticky side out to catch the filing's)
to cover the connector's so this short out can't happen again!
so If you have a Neo Planett you should take a look at the connector's
just below the coin mech to see how much metal filing's are just sitting their on the connector's.
Take some time out and clean them good.
This just could save you some big time headaches down the road!
