Try following the speaker wires. usually the volume switch is within a couple inches of where they plug in.

This is my personal opinion, or of the voices in my head, and are not meant to reflect the opinion of this board.

Yamasa, Crazy Shamen 2 small top speakrs bottom needs control, Neo Planett, mulit position (2) from rock the house loud to off great control, no extra needed.
Bufallo way loud day 2 put 480ohm in line so We don't need ear plugs to play, nice bass reflex action can rock out very large room with just 2 10 watt speakers.
    only 3 pachi's I have lived with.

Do you have a Radio shanty nearby? Or you can order some online.
0-1K ohm 15 turn POTS is the last thing I bought from the Radio shack. they work great on the Jet Set Radio. the smaller rotary trimmers are very touchy, I putsome in Yajikita , I need a brain surgeon to adjust mine for me.
Do a search as this subject has been covered very well.

Great post... For a newby, getting through all the posts about the volume control is quite overwhelming !!!
Well, it seems like my Azteca Gold has some built-in volume control in the setup menu (using the odds key, going through the menus -> SOUNDTEST)

I went through, set the volume to a number between the allowed range (001-255). When testing the sound, the volume is set accordingly however, as soon as I exit the SOUNDTEST menu, it seems like it does not keep that setting.

    -> My 2 cent question :
Is the volume in that menu only for testing the sound or is there something I do wrong that doesn't 'save' that sound setting ?

    Thank you for your help...

Welcome to the best place for Pachi info!
    Stick around for the community.
Ok I don't have that model but others will chime in here as well, the menu volume does not 'stick' it will reset every power cycle. Your best bet at sanity is with add-on volume controls.
I think your info explains it, "SOUNDTEST menu," if it is a test then it would reset as soon as you exited the test. I never heard the menu called that before.

That menu is only for testing and there is no option to save any settings. So no, you didn't do anything wrong. You have to admit that even though it's only a test, it's a very comprehensive test. Useless, but comprehensive.

I have one machine, a Bellco AUTOMATIC.

If the MFG volume switch is set to high expect your head to be split wide open and the after effects to rumble through a military command bunker up to two miles away. Its lowest setting will blast you off your stool and you'll wake up dazed sometime into next week.

Well... Maybe that's a bit exaggerated...

Personally I like the loud volume of its lowest setting. It adds a bit of excitement. But my family has learned to hate it. I mean really hate it, no kidding. Although my goal in playing is to win that big super ultimate bonus, I've learned to dread when I win virtually any bonus and lately have been doing a hard reset to avoid the noise. It knocks the fun right out of it.

I've been working on a volume control and I'll make a new thread entitled "YAVC-Yet Another Volume Control" when its presentable.

    Pachislo-

Popeye - YES! You will WANT/NEED volume controls.
Magic Monster 2- NO! There is a 1-10 volume knob on the inside with a great range.
Devil May Cry- YES! Not as bad as popeye... Or maybe it was. Volume controls were installed.

*bumping this one* - always useful to know.

Just got a Thunderbirds pachinko in (Fuji) to sell for someone, and at startup, it is absolutely neighbor-madness-inducing... I'm going the cotton wool balls in the speaker route, until I can stand to be in the room long enough with it to figure if it actually works!!
There is always another machine around the corner...
