Avatar HELP! Now! please

As I've been a member for a short while now, I thought it would be nice to have a personalised Avatar. So for the last few nights, I've been looking for suitable pictures and attempting to get them loaded. Ahhhhhh!!! Now I'm the first to admit to being a bit of a technophobe, but I'm a reasonably intelligent guy, so why can't I do it??!!! Either the picture has been too large, there's been a bad link or it just doesn't work. In desperation, I thought I'd try one of my daughter's pictures from my computer and guess what, it worked first time!! Hence, from now on (or at least until I figure it out), I'm gonna have a nice picture of a pink fairy next to any of my posts. And you know what, I just don't even care anymore! So if anyone sees my new Avatar and jumps to any conclusions, no I am not a girl and I'm certainly not anything else you might be thinking of either (hence the daughter) and I'm now proud of my fairy, so there!!! PS. Please can anyone give me any tips? Pretty please??

Well, you might want to look into resizing the pics that you want to use or doing a google image search for the theme of what you're looking for. It is tough to find something that's the right size though.

Mike don't feel bad as I can't figure it out either and I have been on here forever. I used to have the smallest avatar genie guy and I couldn't even get it to go back up after I accidently erased it. Something has changed as far as what is allowed . At first I thought animated wasn't allowed but I see it on even larger avatars for other members

You need to contact TULSA and have him put what you want up. Just ask him nicely and I am sure you will be set.

Thanks all of you, it makes me feel better that I'm not the only one who has had trouble. I'd tried loads of pictures and isn't it just typical that the only one that works is a pink fairy! Still, I might keep it for a while, those were the quickest three responses I've ever had from one of my posts! I'm sure you gents can confirm that the fairy had nothing to do with it!

I'm off work tomorrow till the New Year and will give it one more go to see if I can get it to work. If that doesn't work, I shall try a little fairy magic (!) and if that doesn't work, I'll have to take you up on your kind offers of help. It's like when you're lost, I can't bring myself to ask for help just yet, as I want to find it for myself (whilst my wife would have already pulled over and asked for directions and saved us a whole bunch of time). I guess that's the one of the problems of being a man (albeit one with a fairy avatar!).
