    Consider These 3 Thoughts

    (1) Zero Gravity

When NASA first started sending up astronauts, they quickly discovered that ball-point pens would not work in zero gravity. To combat this problem, NASA scientists spent a decade and $12 billion developing a pen that writes in zero gravity, upside-down, on almost any surface including glass and at temperatures ranging from below freezing to over 300 C.

The Russians used a pencil. Your taxes are due again--enjoy paying them.

    (2) Our Constitution

"They keep talking about drafting a Constitution for Iraq. Why don't we just give them ours? It was written by a lot of really smart guys, and it's worked for over 200 years.

And, we're not using it anymore."

    (3) Ten Commandments

The real reason that we can't have the Ten Commandments in a Courthouse is that you cannot post "Thou Shalt Not Steal," "Thou Shalt Not Commit Adultery" and "Thou Shall Not Lie" in a building full of lawyers, judges and politicians

It creates a hostile work environment.

Weirdly, I've just seen a tv programme that dispelled 1) as an urban myth. I wouldn't normally have thought anything of it, except I'd read Arby's comments the day before. Apparently neither the US nor the Russians would risk using a pencil, as the end could break off and cause untold damage if it got into any of the instruments (remember that episode of the Simpsons, where Homer went into space and the ants got out!?). Said programme said that a biro would work just fine, as there was no need for a pen to write upside in zero gravity (which I suppose makes some kind of sense). I couldn't resist sharing that nugget.

Oh, I'm sorry. I forgot that no-one likes a smart arse! It was still funny (made me laugh) and you know what they say about there being no smoke without fire. In fact, if you look at it another way it's even worse, as they probably spent squillions on designing a pen they didn't even need, as a biro would have worked just fine! Now that would be a good use of your taxes.
