Can anyone explain the difference between a Cyclic machine and a ball lifter?

cyclic recycles about 50 balls, you don't win any balls when you get in the pockets,

a ball lifter lifts the losing balls to the top tray so it can pay out winnings.

In a cyclic machine, every ball shot into the playfield, weather it goes into a win pocket or out the bottom, returns to the shooter tray in the front. You can play with as few as 15 -20 balls.

A ball lifter takes the played balls from the back and sends them to the upper reward hopper in the back.

If you just want to enjoy the game, and don't want to handle the balls for a bonus, cyclic is the way to go ( and this from a 'purist' - 99% of my machines are parlor ready).
