Default Pachi Seller Asserts: What's Skill Got To Do With It?

    http://www.durhamcentral.com/slots/tips.htm

About 2/3 of the way down the page on the above link, a seller of pachislo machines says that there really is no skill involved when it comes to playing the machines. He uses the fact that an autostop card can be added to somehow "prove" his point. I found this very interesting, though from what I've read and what I've experienced personally, I do not agree. I wondered what the members here had to say.

You can usually eyeshot the first reel on most machines, the second and third reels are harder.

    My opinion based on the time I've spent playing;

You cannot eyeshoot a win when the machine does not want you to win.

The machine can give you replay whenever it wants to

The machine can give you bells pretty much whenever it wants to

You can eyeshoot small bonuses in chance mode if you're good at it

Once the machine is ready to go into the bonus round, you can get to the bonus round much faster by eye shooting.

I could be wrong on any and/or all of the above

Yes, there is some skill involved, but I believe it swings the payouts a few percentage points at the most.

I'm with cwstnsko. That's basically it. Auto stops on the newer machines are a waste of time. At times the machine will tell you what reel to stop in order to get the full payout. Auto stop used at this time will just mess it up. About the only time I have found that auto stop is usefully is if during the feed me times and you just want the machine to play without doing much work on your part. That's what others have told me. I may have them on most of my machines but only for the credit add function.

I can tell you right now that if you take away eye-shooting on the Spin Luck and the Harley in their bonus games, you're never going to win at them. This is one reason I gravitate towards the IGT machines as they bring this into play more often. Yamasas, I would say that you might as well have it auto-stop as eye-shooting is a waste of time.

Yes! They spin way to fast! On the Destroyer there are times you get into a win situation and you have to figure out what you are to try shooting for but it is almost impossible to hit what you want, and if your trying for the wrong thing it is just even harder.

Interesting, I have several Yamasa machines and I have not found them any more difficult to shoot than the others. In fact, I would say my Time Park is by far the easiest machine to eye shoot that I have.

Well it is an individual eye thing. Some people eye shoot better than others.

Eyeshooting can be considered a skill but it's used in most machines only during bonus collection - one exception being the Juggler series.

The real skill of pachislo and pachinko is very abstract and mental: to understand the data and patterns of the machine and how to incorporate that information into basically knowing when to continue and when to give up. It's true that a one-handed monkey with no ears can sit at a machine and win big but it takes more than that to understand why you won as opposed to how much.

While my friend Willie was here, he learned to eye-shoot. He hit BB's on every machine he played, with the exception of one. This is oit of 23 machines.

His favorite machine, and the one hit could hit a Big Bonus on just about any time he wanted, was the Spin Luck.

I cannot eye-shoot. Therefore mine are all just luck.

I agree with Rupan 100%. Its all about knowing the way the game is going. I think the machines do react to how a player is shooting the reels.

I've learned Magic Pulsar well enough to know the outcome of a spin 90% of the time after the 1st reel stop. Thats almost sad ................

(Ask Mark if you don't believe me.)

My 1st machine was Aladdin-A. I played it enough that I started to recognize patterns. As you picked up a pattern, it was recognizing which sequence to stop the reels in, more so than eye-shooting that would determine how many small prizes you got. This made it much less token intensive to play long enough to get to the next bonus round. Oddly enough, one of my best tools for picking up on the patterns was to play a lot of time with an auto-stop chip set to stop the reels in a random order. Over time, you could start to pick up the reel sequence to pattern matches. Then you could turn the auto-stop off and have some fun trying to beat the machine

Some of my newer machines are actually less interesting to play after the 1st few hours, once you've seen all of the video scenes.
