    Default LED replacement

Where can one get a replacement LED? What are the specs?

I have 1 out on my Yamato.

My meter tells me there is 5V at the LED. Can anyone tell me what I should look for when I go to the electronics store to get one?

I took some LEDs from various junk items (like the LED on the front of a CD rom drive) but when I put them on the pachinkos board they were way too dim.

I really don't know how you can tell what kind EXACTLY to get, apart from having the original specs. My best guess would be something categorized Ultra Bright or Super Bright... especially if the commons were too dim.

LEDs are rated in both mA and MCD (current and "brightness"), along with color.

Thanks. The LEDS I tried were too dim and they were more dim than when used in the original equipment.

I would say you don't want anything less than 1000mcd (brightness).
Most indicator led's (cdrom) are only like 10-20 and only use 2 - 2.5 V.
If you put one of those on and it didn't blow, the red 3 or 5mm (not sure which yours are) from these people should work fine.
I bought a handful of the 3mm white to replace the reel led's in an Arabesque fromthese people.
    Reliable seller.

Compirate, Thanks so much. I'm stopping at the electronics store on my way home from work. If they don't have any clear 1000mcd 5v LEDs I'll have to order online.

Thanks again Compirate. I was able to pick up some LEDs localy.
After trying different mcd rated LEDs I wound up using ones rated at 7000.
They match the others fine as far as brightness. I do notice that the original LEDs in the machine have a wider viewing angle. It just so happens that the location I needed to replace, that didn't matter.
